FairPrice Tai Seng — Local services in Singapore

UPDATED: + 1star as after another email exchange, Fairprice has decided to allow an exchange of item of similar value at the same store. +1 more star as I have since completed the exchange without much issues.

Purchased a bag of cheese from this outlet for baked rice two days later, only to realise there’s a HUGE chunk of mould inside. How? It was a newly opened bag of cheese far from the best before date.

Emailed a feedback to Fairprice with as much details as I could and they asked questions that have already been answered in my email to them. I can’t tell if they bothered to read my feedback in the first place? There was also no mention of any plans to refund the item, not that I need it, but it did nothing to lessen my negative experience of having a dinner plan ruined. (If anyone makes baked rice, you would know that the last part of that is to sprinkle cheese for baking. Imagine the agony of sprinkling mouldy cheese on top everything else that were already prepared and arranged in place.)

This is the first time I have given negative review. The level of customer service is just...

Very upsetting experience. Never expects NTUC Fairprice, a cooperative for the labor union/people engage in scamming its customers which includes it's members. Saw promotion signage for Tong Garden's fruits n nuts crisp promotion - buy 2 get 1 free for same item. No other T & C accompanying. Took 3 packs for payment..cashier removed 1 pack and another staff took another pack of same product from somewhere and gave me instead. Isn't this peculiar. As I suspected, the pack given to me left 1 month before expire. How would they k how I will consume it in a mth?! I told them this is not right. It is mis-representation or in layman term 'cheating!. Told them either I get the pack I chosen or reverse the transaction. The cashier hurriedly reversed it.

I am upset not just because I felt cheated. It is very upsetting and unexpected that such large people's cooperative such as ntuc fairprice on it's own or worst collaborates with its vendor to cheat the public, including its members by misrepresentation to boost sales by getting rid of products...

I want to take my time and express my appreciation for one of your workers named Jia Xin.

I needed help getting my baby’s formula which is super hard to find. Then I remembered being able to get it at the Tai Seng outlet and true enough, I called the store and Jia Xin picked up the phone telling me there was 1 left at the outlet. However I was at my in laws which is at Bukit Batok so I had to improvise.

Jia Xin without even thinking twice, agreed on my suggestion on transferring her the money for the formula and I arranged pickup for the item to be delivered to me.

Although she didnt contribute financially which is what most people would expect from situations like this, this small action of hers has made such a big impact. She saved me sleepless nights and my worries for my daughter not having her milk was gone.

I really applaud her for going the extra mile. This is such a great example of the store’s customer service and I hope she can be rewarded for her...
