We went on the Sunday noon time (12.10pm) all the way from bukit timah but we missed the visiting hour, hence got to wait till the next operating time at 2pm. The cafe happened to have a mini birthday party celebration, hence the empty table left around 1-2 for other visitors 1 at the front and the other table next to the birthday balloons n gifts). So while waiting around (there's food available), my 1yo & 2yo saw the 50cents riding machine and were excited to explore around. We are aware that the staff are taking their break at the inner section of the same vicinity that is for kids activities seating area (the rest of the children chairs are placed upside down onto the table) which we did guard off my children from heading towards them. However, the claw machine n rides are all at the same section and there's literally nothing else to do. While we ordered food to pass the time, the staff told me have to wait, and of coz my kids will explore around (outside was really hot with direct afternoon scotching sun, and my hub and my 2yo was chilling outside the cafe under the sun for at least 20min, with only 1 sitting area outside) And guess what, we were being told off by the non-resting staff not to go over the activities area coz their staff are resting???? (Yes, we KNOW.. but u meant we should then join the stranger's party meh?).
And also, there wasn't pricelist on the top menu, so I was abit shock from the price during payment but i did not question further (i'd ordered 1 roti prata w fish curry 1 crispy chicken chop & a picanto float - $31) and i just straight away made the payment. No receipt was given. After 10-15min, my chicken chop & prata were ready, i went on to grab both (coz I could tell it's my order) and I even asked again, 'these are my order, right?' the malay staff just nodded to me and murmured something (he's wearing a mask so I really can't make out what he was mumbling) while he was holding onto another plate of crispy chicken chop coz no place to put the plate down if i don't take away my 2 plates and 1 couldn't be bothered after grabbing my plates off, as my 1yo was still walking around (which I didn't want him to enter the other side since STAFF WERE RESTING). While cutting my crispy chicken chop, the same guy from the counter said loudly "Mdm, this one also your order (pointing at a 2nd plate of crispy chicken chop)" n i was stunned.
So here's the convo exchange, Me: No? i only ordered 1 chicken chop Him: no, got 2, that's why $31 Me: but u didn't give me a receipt? (i was really pissed off at this point) Him: Okay, nvm, i print for u now. I thought well since he has already prepare the c. chop, then its fine i will just swallow them, but i was in the midst of cutting my food.
N next, he came out next to my table and place the receipt & $10 note on my table and said "nah, your receipt & I return u $10 (n he pointed to the receipt) there 2 chicken chop, but nvm i return u $10 already" (WOW SLAY AH. IS THIS HOW FRONTLINE STAFF SHOULD BEHAVE?)
Yes, there could be a miscommunication, but in the first place, my order was straight forward and I'm not sure how he heard 2 or he double key in and now point finger back to me for ordering 2? but he could have presented himself in a more apropriate manner.
Oh, lastly, when we left, we didn't clear the table coz we really didn't see a return tray sign, n all the other tables also have plates left there (the guest are leaving), and he went on saying " HELLO, SORRY! U HAVE TO CLEAR YOUR TABLE" (while looking at me).
We didn't even wait for the horse feeding session, as the service attitude was really bad. Mind you, I used to work on weekends in retail too (for 8 years), I do know the feeling of having to work on weekends and also having to serve customer during lunch time, but that's the life of working in retail/F&B. I don't think you should be showing any frustration to the customers especially your group of audience are mainly family...

I'm extremely disappointed with my recent visit to Gallop Stable Pasir Ris. Our experience was marred by the staff's rigid enforcement of their ticket policy. I wasn't clearly informed that the tickets had to be used on the same day, and the website and ticket counter didn't explicitly state this requirement despite me purchasing extra tickets. I assumed, like many other attractions, that the tickets would be valid for a reasonable period.
When I tried to utilise the extra tickets today the staff's inflexibility was shocking, especially since we weren't trying to exploit the system. They refused to accommodate us, citing their strict policy, and didn't offer any alternatives or solutions. This experience left me feeling undervalued and cheated by the fine print and unfair contract terms.
The pony riding establishment's strict enforcement of their same-day ticket policy raises concerns about their priorities. It seems they value commercial terms over customer satisfaction and safety. This lack of flexibility and understanding for customers' needs is alarming.
The establishment's commitment to customer safety is also questionable given that the minders for the rides look very young and untrained. When getting on and off the pony, the minders hardly care about the young children. Parents with young children, please ride at your own risk.
This experience leaves a sour taste. Unless they revise their ticket policy or train their staff to be more empathetic, I would advise others to think twice...
