Good Service Recovery: After posting my initial review regarding our experience, Singapore Casket, through their representative Robert, promptly contacted us to address the situation. Robert was polite, sincere, and apologetic in explaining what had happened. He conveyed our feedback to his management and offered a discount on the chanting service as part of service recovery, which we appreciate.
To be fair, during the wake, Robert was also very responsive to our various ad-hoc requests, such as arranging for buffet refreshments and handling sudden needs quickly. Throughout the service recovery process, he remained prompt, honest, and sincere, and we are thankful for his efforts.
However, we must emphasize that the issues we encountered — particularly the lack of transparency regarding additional charges by the monk they engaged — did happen. Initially, the monk only mentioned rewriting names on a red paper, with no mention of providing a proper tablet. The explanation changed only after we raised concerns. Furthermore, payment for the additional $168 service was to be made directly to the monk, outside of the casket company’s official billing — something we were not informed about beforehand.
While we appreciate Singapore Casket’s willingness to address our concerns, we hope they will review their processes regarding third-party religious service providers. Families in mourning deserve full transparency and integrity during such difficult times.
For future customers, it would be advisable to clarify all services and potential fees upfront to avoid unexpected situations, and to beware of any additional charges that the monks may impose if you require any further services after the wake.

Original Review: We engaged Singapore Casket for my father-in-law’s funeral. Overall, the service had both hits and misses. There were instances of calculation mistakes and a lack of proactive guidance on certain traditional practices until we specifically asked.
The most disappointing experience involved adding my father-in-law’s name to our ancestral tablet at home. The monk engaged through Singapore Casket, 法顺法师, attempted to charge additional hidden fees. He explained the procedure in the house but only when walking to the lift, did he mention that chanting at home would cost $336 and rewriting names on the ancestral tablet would cost $168. This was not explained in the house as there was a CCTV.
The monk only said he would rewrite names on a red paper, not that a new proper tablet was involved. It was only after we declined his handwritten service — stating our preference for an engraved tablet — that the monk said he has a 法会 (prayer session) to attend and would send a disciple instead. It felt as though because he could not profit from writing the tablet, he lost interest. This raised concerns for us about integrity and transparency.
Later discussions with Singapore Casket revealed that even their representative, Robert, was unaware of this $168 charge beforehand, suggesting that the monk had introduced this fee independently. We strongly believe that any additional services and payments should be formally included in the company’s official invoice and communicated clearly to the family, not handled privately with third parties.
While we were deeply disappointed by this aspect of the service, we do recognize and appreciate the efforts made by Robert to support us during the wake and to address our...

At times in night when we had some doubts Sky was able to answer our queries over the WhatsApp to give us the assurance and clear our queries As my dad had Buddhist rites with late cremation at Mandai, we were initially very worried where to temporarily keep his photo, incence burner and his tablet as the ashes will be collected only next day Sky offered to keep it till we collect the ash next day at Singapore Casket. Overall it was great experience to have Singapore Casket to handle my father's funeral and Sky as main caretaker to handle all details even minor details when at such time all our family members were filled with sadness of our father's...
