Tangs Orchard = A Beloved Icon 🟠☘️ TANGS Dept Store at the junction of Scotts Road and Orchard Road holds a special place in my heart. I still remember visiting it as a small child in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when it first began its journey in the heart of Singapore’s premier shopping district.

🟠 All these years later, I find myself always returning—this time with my husband—for a walk down memory lane, only to discover how it continues to evolve with the times. 🟦 Store Layout & Decor= 🟦 The store has a refreshed & elegant vibe, seamlessly blending modern retail aesthetics with touches of its heritage charm.

🟦 The decor is clean, contemporary, and thoughtfully designed. ➡️Each level is well-organized, making it easy to explore. 🟦 The comfortable lighting highlights merchandise effectively, and signage throughout the store is clear and helpful. 🟩 Merchandise & Offerings= 🟩 TANGS continues to deliver a well-curated selection of products across its four ( 4) levels of shopping floors.

🟩 Level 1 is dedicated to "Beauty and Cosmetics" —a vibrant, stylish space where the latest skincare and makeup lines are showcased in chic counters.

🟩 Level 2 features a mix of fashion wear and kids' apparel, making it a convenient one-stop level for families and fashionistas alike.

🟩 Level 3 now houses the 🔴 Kitchen Appliances, Bed & Bath, and Household items— ➡️ a major change from its previous B1 level spot in the basement.▪︎ It’s spacious and neatly laid out, with practical & elegant lifestyle offerings.

🟩 Level 4 is home to "Beauty & Wellness Services" and the "Click-and-Collect Customer Service zone". 🟩 This level is quieter and provides a more personalized service experience— perfect for those picking up online orders or indulging in self-care.

🟨🟨 B1 Level as of 11th June 2025 is currently being revamped and renovated. ✔️B1 used to house the Tangs smallish food court. 🟪Service & Experience= 🟪 If there's one thing that’s remained consistent throughout the decades, it’s the attentive and courteous service.

🟪 Tangs staff have always been helpful, knowledgeable, and patient ----- qualities that truly elevate the shopping experience. ➡️ So whether I am browsing casually or seeking specific advice, I am always met with warm professionalism.

🤎 Final Thoughts = Tangs dept store is more than just a department store to me.🩷 It is a truly venerable part of Singapore’s retail scene, constantly evolving while keeping its heart and soul intact.

Seems like I am not the only one who has had a problem with the customer service agents (Joy CABISARES and Homer John TOC).

On 24 Feb 2025, I received an email by Joy regarding an online order placed on 19 Feb 2025 where the product was wrongly listed as 100ml instead of 30ml. This came ONE day before the self-collection date, after informing me that the order is processed and ready for collection many days before. This was intended as a gift so obviously I had to find a replacement.

The email was sent by Joy from shop@tangs.com, asking if I would like to proceed with the order or opt for a refund. I replied to the same email stating my displeasure from this incident on the same day and to date, there has not been any follow-up response from her despite me sending a second email in case she had missed it.

On 4 March 2025, I sent in a new inquiry about this matter and was promptly responded to by Homer, stating that they are unable to view any emails sent to shop@tangs.com. I find this ridiculous as this was not stated anywhere in the original email. In fact, a small confidentiality caution at the end of the email states: "If you have received this message in error, please notify us immediately by return mail and delete the original message". That aside, Homer responded promptly after I had forwarded the original email thread to them, stating that Joy would get back to me by 8 March 2025.

At the time of writing on 13 March 2025, I have sent a follow-up email reminding them to reply to me to no avail. For reference, the online order has been indicated as "Picked up" on TANGS' website, and I have yet to be receive a refund or any form of service recovery for their inability to fulfill the order.

If you are ordering from TANGS, beware of specific customer service staff who will not respond to issues with your order and products.

Edit: I have since sent in a third enquiry and was fortunately attended to by Arnold, who has proactively given me a resolution and excellent service recovery.
