I frequently have staycations in Singapore and overseas, and this is the 4th–5th time I’ve stayed with Yotel, but the first time I’ve encountered such a situation. Upon checking in the night before, I checked with the reception lady what time was check-out and if it was possible to check out late. To which she replied that check-out is at 11 a.m., I could check out by 1 p.m. with no additional charges, and anything later will be chargeable at a half-day rate. I then confirmed with her on the price, which she informed me was about 159++ if I checked out from 1pm to 6pm. I then thanked her for offering complimentary late checkout at 1pm and would consider a half-day rate if I wished to check out after 1pm. Fast forward to the day of check-out; at 1220pm, I heard several knocks on my door. I’m not too sure on the procedure of Yotel as I don’t usually checkout late, but to my knowledge, hotels usually give a call and inform us on check-out time. But instead, what I got to my horror was a young male staff member who opened my room door despite locking it and putting up the do not disturb sign. Thankfully, I was able to get dressed halfway before he opened the door. I had an uncomfortable experience having a conversation with him half naked. He then mentioned that I should have checked out by 11 a.m. To which I replied, stating the reception staff informed me I could check out by 1pm, and he said no, he was not informed of such an arrangement. He then gave me 25 minutes to check out by 1245pm. I would like to state that I have never encountered such an experience with any hotels and never expected for this to occur. This experience has left both me and my partner traumatized. If I wasn’t told I could check out at 1pm, I wouldn’t have stayed on any later than 11am or would have paid the half-day rate for late checkout. I am unsure if this was due to miscommunication between staff, but it is highly unprofessional for a staff member in hospitality to walk into a guest’s room without consent. I sincerely hope you look into this matter and would appreciate some clarification on this. Thank you.

Based on price and location , I decided on YOTEL without reading the reviews. I merely chose it based on location. My reservation was for 8 nights. Single occupancy. Upon arrival 08:30( well early before check-in) I deposited my luggage and went off, returned back at 1pm ( still before check in) and the rooms were amazing readied. From my booking pictures, I sort of knew how my rooms looked like and they were exactly the same as pictures. So, I was not ‘cheated’. At the caption, it looked exceedingly busy. I was expecting the hotel to be rather ‘rowdy’, but I was really really surprised. Either the rooms are sound proofed or I’m temporary deaf, I could not hear any outside noise. Some better class hotels, you could hear guest closing doors, talking along the corridors. I hear nothing. Now, back to the room amenities, it is compact, perfect for one person occupancy. It has all the necessary things in the room. Bottled water, hairdryer, iron, shower gel, tooothbrush and even an umbrella hidden in a compartment beside the TV. How smart is that. I even found a hidden fridge beside the bed. I was well pleased with my wooden toothbrush, even though I brought along my electric toothbrush. I couldn’t help but admire the eco friendly one. Location is literally 282 steps( I counted) from hotel main door to Shaw Center side ( you are literally) on the main road. I am glad I chose this hotel. At reception, the girl at the desk was slightly frosty but was efficient. Could not really squeeze a smile out of her, however, the highlight was this gentleman, I got his name. Kelvin Tan, he came with a big smile. Very accommodating. I decided this is the guy to remember. I will be leaving this hotel in 8 nights time, go away and returned to Singapore again for 7 nights before my flight back to UK. I have not booked my hotel in Singapore upon my return yet but I am geared towards using this same hotel. It serves my purpose and needs. I am exceedingly pleased. Before writing this review, I read other reviews. I’ve read bugs, ants. Sorry to disappoint. I did not find any in my room. It was very clean.

Plus point: - Clean, great staffs, brilliant location. - Adjustable bed to different fowler's angles. - The cleaning product "Urban Jungle" smells great! - Using robot - Yolanda and Yoshi to deliver requested items e.g. towel is very interesting, and helps to save some manpower. - Pool is available. Minus point: - The limited choice of food for the buffet breakfast. - Absence of a mini 'folder' to store the card key. I mean, is there a need to save on this expense? Information such as the breakfast timing, the restaurant location, etc, can be included. - The room is kinda small. Ideal for those solo stayer who doesn't buy lots of stuff. - I was trying to use the terminal for self-check in, but the terminal fails to check in. Not sure what is the purpose of these terminal, when human intervention is still needed in the end. - Door to the staircase is locked, which can be a red flag, especially if there is a fire occur (touch wood) Unsure-where-I-should-classified-under point: - The window is beside the toilet/shower room. Kinda awkward, and you need to draw the curtain everytime you wanna use the toilet/shower room. The view (without the curtain) from the toilet/shower room is great, but overall, it is just plain weird.

The best hotel experience I've ever had This is my first time at Yotel and I definitely will come back

Surprises me to see there's a lot of people here giving negative reviews about the check-in system when I personally love it. The self check-in system was very efficient, I just need to scan my passport and they show my booking, then I place my key card and voila in 3 minutes checked-in, I don't like to wait in a long queue so this was very helpful I check-in just before 3 PM so it was crowded but thankfully I didn't have to wait at all, the staff were also great and help each guest with the monitor. The system is also very great for introverts like myself who don't like to interact with too many people as it gets overwhelming Honestly for the location (Orchard and near bus stop) and the facilities, the price for the room is a great value. I've come to Singapore every 2 months for medical checkup and always look for hotels in Paragon Medical area, since this hotel has a bus stop (Royal Thai Embassy) it's very convenient to go anywhere The service was 100000/10 ,right from where I check in to check out I have received great service from everyone (receptionist, mission control, the housekeepers who are just passing, they are all friendly), but the cherry on top was when I lost my phone. I just checked out and rode the bus to Paragon when I realize I lost it, I was affraid I got pickpocketed at the bus and I called the hotel and ask to check my room. The person who answered was a young female, professional 👏 I was panicking but her way of response calmed me, she suggests to check find my iphone and wait for their call as soon as they found it. And 20 minutes later they did. I didn't hear the call so I didn't answer. The manager (Mr. Kelvin) even wrote an email asking if I'm still in Singapore since I missed the call. Overall the staff has great crisis-handling skills 👌 When I retrieve it they also had to check if I'm the real owner of the phone so kudos to them for ensuring security and safety The self check-out system makes it easy to check-out quickly (I checked out 10.58) and there's a queue, I didn't want to get charged for late checkout so I used the machine and it only took like a minute The room itself was very nice, I book the queen size bedroom for two people, I see a lot of comments saying it was too small and can't open their luggage, but for my case it was okay, we brought 2 cabin size luggage and we can leave it open. I love how modern the room is, you can adjust the position of the bed, lots of light options, and the full view of the street. It was small yes but ergonomically designed 👍 There's an ironing board, kettle, hairdryer, Just wish there was a refrigerator The access was rather confusing in google maps but thankfully the street sign help us. There's a mini elevator from the street level to the reception which helped us carry our luggage.

I highly recommend going to this hotel if you're looking for a...

I stayed here for four nights and while not unhappy, I don't feel like the hotel warrants the price.

The location is excellent. It's super easy to use public transport, as there are numerous bus stations and the MRT close by. Getting to and from the airport was also very easy, as a bus connects directly from the airport to the Royal Thai Embassy station next to the hotel.

The room was small and clean. I stayed here by myself, if you're traveling with someone, I hope you like each other because the bed is rather small (and a little overcrowded with pillows, but those can obviously be removed). The bathroom was also clean and had an excellent view (I was on one of the higher floors - definitely recommend if you like city views). If you don't want people looking at you while in the shower or on the toilet, there is a privacy screen to pull down.

So why only three stars? The room was always rather cold and damp. I tried working the AC (to turn it off) but wasn't able to. Maybe this is a me-problem, but I've never had issues working the AC in other hotels. The dampness of the room was very noticeable and there was even a distinct damp smell (not horrible though) to it. Towels and clothes (from sweating) didn't really dry well and sleeping in this atmosphere was rather uncomfortable. The sink is outside the rest of the bathroom, right next to the bed and super small. It was impossible not to drip on the floor when brushing my teeth or washing my face.

The breakfast buffet (included in my room price) was okay. This is a very biased opinion and may not relate to you if you eat everything. As a vegan, it was rather difficult to find suitable foods, as nothing was labeled. (This may also be relevant for people with food allergies). If you ask for it, they do have soy milk (I recommend having a good look at the carton though, as they also tried to give me melon-flavored cow milk). The buffet changed a bit every day, there was sometimes rice, sometimes noodles (they looked egg-y though) and on the last morning, they had labeled vegan mock meat - however, with butter. So my appeal is PLEASE PLEASE label the food with ingredients. It's very important for people with allergies or other dietary requirements.

Overall, my stay wasn't too bad, however the dampness of the room was really uncomfortable and I feel like the price is a bit too high for...
