Short review: Justin was an excellent guide for our table mountain hike and had a significant amount of information about the plants/wildlife/geology. I highly recommend hiring him if you are in need of a hiking guide. Detailed Review: My husband and I were visiting and wanted to hike table mountain. We both have significant hiking experience but because we are from the US we wanted a guide to point out the smaller details along the way. Justin met us on time for the hike and gave an accurate description of the terrain, expected hiking time, distance, and elevation gain prior to starting to ensure that we were not embarking on something too far outside our comfort zone. As we began our hike he stoped to point out interesting plants or wildlife as we came upon them. He gave detailed descriptions and when applicable has us smell and feel different plants of interest. Justin also was able to go into significantly more detail when prompted with questions. Justin was great at ensuring a balance between sharing information and allowing us to listen to the noises from the animals/wind/water along the way. He set a good pace that was appropriate at ensuring that we didn’t feel pressured to walk fast. On the harder sections of trail he guided us pointing out potential areas where we could slip and things to be cautious of. Justin also provided us with a link to easily download photos that he took for us along the way. Overall Justin did an excellent job of setting a relaxed pace, keeping us safe, and providing information on the plants, animals, history, and geology along the way.

We did two tours with Mark – one birding focused and one for wine tasting - and loved them both! Mark is incredibly knowledgeable and personable and is a wonderful host. He came highly recommended and we could see why. In addition to seeing so many amazing birds and drinking some very good wine, we got to see an array of stunning scenery and learn about the ecosystem, culture and history of the area. Mark has such broad and deep knowledge of the area that he can adjust and tailor your experience on the fly and offer an amazingly wide range of different experiences. I wish we had had time to spend another week or two with him doing other things – for example getting further out on some of the trails – he seems to been out on every one of them in South Africa! In short, spending a couple of days with Mark was an absolute delight – we can’t wait for our next trip to Cape Town so we can do more!

My spouse and I had a wonderful hike up Skeleton Gorge (down via cable car) with Justin in late September. Justin’s incredible command of the flora and fauna is matched by his enthusiasm for sharing information about South Africa and Cape Town. He’s flexible, accommodating and always helpful. Can’t wait to return.

Did two day tours with Mark - no trekking as fitness not up to it at the moment! Had a lovely time, it's wonderful to be taken around beautiful Cape Town with a local who is passionate about their city. We covered so much including all the must sees! However as a marine biologist it was also great to be with a fellow conservationist who could tell me all about all the flora and fauna and not just the usual bog standard tour blurb (he did cover all that too though if that's what you want!) And as a solo traveller it's brilliant to find someone willing to take you on a private, custom made tour at a reasonable price. Thanks to Mark for putting up with me and to Lindsay for...
