First of all, one has to define the objective of the hike. My objective was to get to the look out point, overlooking Camps Bay, i didn't know the route so i took the cable car and followed the map that i had. After getting to the hanging rock (look out point), i descended via the Camps bay side to Theresa street at the bottom, where i took an uber to the Kloof nek parking. For those who want to go to the look out point, the shortest route will be: Park the car at any safe convenient place, Kloof nek or Camps Bay. Take an uber to the top of Theresa Street, where the route starts with a clearly marked National Parks Map. Follow this 4x4 track following the Kasteelspoort signage. the route will change from the 4x4 track to the hiking trail. Follow the trail along the mountain, you will pass a National parks No Entry sign, prohibiting you from turning left up the erosion galley. Follow the path, it will take you to a point where you start walking in between the two mountains (apostles). From here you should be seeing the hanging rock on the top of the right side mountain. Proceed until you see the two buildings in front of you and at this point you should be at the route indicator point. Turn right, walk for a few meters est 100m- 200m and right again to the hanging rock. You can take all the pictures you want and have your refreshments on the flat rock opposite the old winch or on the winch platform itself. Decide if you will go back same route or proceed to the Cable car station. Cable car station will take you 2hrs or 2.5 hrs depending on how much energy one still has left. On the cable car route, take the one on the far right to enjoy the views of the City bowl, Cape Town stadium, Lions head, Signal hill, Robben island, The Harbour, V&A Waterfront. Take the cable car to the bottom of the mountain and get an uber to you car. You can do this route...

Kasteelspoort Hiking trail is one of the Table Mountain legends as it’s been around for decades and been walked by generations – sometimes of the same family.

It’s a rewarding trail that takes you up Table Mountain and gives the opportunity to navigate to one of the many huts, the dams of even all the way up to the Table Mountain Cable Way station.

The views over Camps Bay are simply wonderful and you will find it to be a popular route, though people are very friendly and helpful along the way.

It’s entirely for beginners though as there are some steep sections, but still makes for a rewarding hike.

Time your walk for early in the morning so that you avoid the summer sun for the most part.

The parking down at Theresa Avenue is almost...

Kasteelspoort us a fairly safe route to take via the pipe track from kloof nek circle the route on pipe track us very rocky in places so please wear a good strong pair of hiking boots; it offers a beautiful view of the Camps Bay area overlooking the beach. Take some snacks with and enjoy a breakfast break on the derrick commonly known as (breakfast rock) here you have a panoramic view of surrounding areas.

For your own safety keep all valuable items in...

I love this trail…it’s quite scenic, less crowded if compared to the other Table Mountain trail… you can access the famous ‘Diving Board’ from many directions like, Camps Bay, Constantia Nek, even from Platteklip Gorge… and ofcause the views are breath taking… difficult level is 6/10 it’s a steep climp if taken from the Camps Bay side… Gentle but longer if taken from Constantia nek… overally worthy the climb… you definitely should try it..🖤
