If you fortunate enough to head towards the Cape overberg you have to head down to Cape Agulus. Contrary to popular belief, the Southern most tip of Africa is where the Atlantic and Indian Ocean meet. And you will find this fact to be verified by the beautifully erected monument that adorns this historical sight. Driving through the beautiful seaside town of Struisbaai, which has an allure of its own you will arrive at the Southern most tip. The famous lighthouse and shipwreck on route provide lovely photo opportunities, and set in a national reserve you also can delight in the abundance and variety of different fynbos which grow abundantly in the area. On reaching Agulus which is well visited you are welcomed by a lovely walkway with boards along the way describing and illustrating the marine life as well as descriptions of the local indigenous vegetation. On arriaval at Agulus you will find a huge ground level map of Africa which pin points your exact location. The feeling of being at the tip of Africa is second to none. Take lots of photos as the beauty of your surroundings is spell bounding. So...

L'AgulhasĀ is the most southernĀ coastal village and holiday resortĀ in Africa, located within theĀ Cape Agulhas Municipal (CAM) areaĀ at the southernmost tip of the African mainland. It is situated next to the town ofĀ StruisbaaiĀ and about 30 kilometres (20Ā mi) south of the regional centre ofĀ Bredasdorp. The name "Agulhas",Ā PortugueseĀ for "needles", is said to have been given to the cape because the compass-needle was seen to point due north, that is, with no magnetic deviation. TheĀ Agulhas BankĀ is reputed to be the richest fishing area in theĀ Southern Hemisphere.[2]Ā Some of the older residents and documents refer to the town as by its former name Cape Agulhas or Cape L'Agulhas or simply Agulhas which were the names that referred to this town before it was changed to L'Agulhas to avoid confusion when the Bredasdorp Municipality changed its name toĀ The Cape Agulhas...

Southern most point of Africa. Cape AgulhasĀ (/É™ĖˆÉ”ŹŒləs/;Ā Portuguese:Ā Cabo das AgulhasĀ [ˈkaβu ưɐz ɐˈɣuŹŽÉŹƒ], "Cape of the Needles") is a rockyĀ headlandĀ inĀ Western Cape,Ā South Africa.

It is the geographicĀ southern tipĀ of theĀ African continentĀ and the beginning of the dividing line between theĀ AtlanticĀ andĀ IndianĀ Oceans according to theĀ International Hydrographic Organization.[1]

Historically, the cape has been known to sailors as a major hazard on the traditionalĀ clipper route. It is sometimes regarded as one of theĀ great capes. It was most commonly known in English asĀ Cape L'AgulhasĀ until the 20th century. The town ofĀ L'AgulhasĀ is located near...
