Korsman Bird Sanctuary — Local services in Ekurhuleni Ward 28

Korsman Bird Sanctuary is situated in Westdene ,an upmarket suburb of the greater Benoni. The bird sanctuary is in the middle ,surrounded by huge mansions built along The Drive. Many people visit this place to either jog , walk around the perimeter fence or enjoy the breathtaking scenery by sitting on the wooden benches provided.

People with dogs who either live here or in the vicinity ,bring them for daily walks. This place is well maintained and it is expected that people visiting or using its facilities do so responsibly.

When walking your dogs ,please carry a scoop and a packet to pick up after your dogs.There are bins provided for your litter.The Ekurhuleni Metro has recently paved almost half of this area around the sanctuary for people to use and not walk onto the road.

It is truly a pleasure to walk ,jog or just watch the birds in this area. This must truly rank as one of the finest bird sanctuaries on the East Rand - so come on , all you bird enthusiasts , visit this place & judge...

Korsmans Bird Sanctuary is a truly serene and tranquil place to view the various bird species found here.

As this is a place i use 5-6 days a week for my daily walks from home to the bird sanctuary. This sanctuary is very well signposted showing all the different bird species resident here including a recent visitor called the "Heron".

Bins and benches are provided at regular distance from each other.Parking fjr vehicles are also available but you will be better advised to park around " The Drive" in selected spots or at the "Aubrey Ritz Park" as certain grass sections previously used for parking are now being rehabilitated.

A beautiful place to visit even with your dogs on leashes but don't forget the "scoop and poop bag"

This circular walk is a perfect length to exercise the dog or stretch your legs in a safe environment. I have enjoyed this walk over the years and it gets better all the time with the paved path area extending almost all the way and neatly trimmed. There are dog poo bags available to do the responsible thing. The park benches at the rest and observation points are well maintained and the car park area is well signposted.
