Tuesday: 18 June 2024 No matter what your station is in life, you can choose to deliver service - in whichever field you are in - in an ordinary run-of-the-mill fashion or with a bit of applied effort, in an extra-ordinary manner which delights the audience/recipient. We have just been seeking parking at Blue Route Mall in Tokai on this cold, grey afternoon while the sun hides it's bright face behind the clouds. Suddenly a Parking Attendant/Car-Guard jumps to attention in front of our car and with great exaggerated flourish, instructs us to reverse... which we did whilst another driver waited in a parked car (ready to leave the parking bay) until we passed and the car then exited the bay while our Traffic Director bid her 'so long' and 'drive safely' and gestured for us to park in the vacant bay. He then - with great theatrical ability - directed us into the parking bay. I was so entranced and impressed by his showmanship while donning really dark sunglasses and an orange rain/sunhat. He greeted us as we exited the car and reassured us that the car would be safe. We later returned and he acknowledged us with a wave while directing other drivers. We do not frequent that particular mall but how refreshing to find street theatre in action on the streets of Cape Town in a local parking area. The theatrical gestures were really entertaining as too was the manner in which he thanked the patrons graciously for the monetary rewards. It was a real pleasure and a great treasure for me to witness this attitude which directly influenced his altitude... not in a job promotion of any kind but in the happy atmosphere which he seemed to energetically encourage amongst those whom he interacted with. It seemed like it was pure delight for him to be of service to others. Happiness begets happiness. I never got his name as he was just too busy ensuring that everyone was attended to in his section but what an absolute gem he was! He just simply bloomed where he was planted for the day. My day was certainly brighter having been blessed to interact with this 'Happiness Influencer'. May God bless him as he touches lives and perks up strangers in the parking lot who leave feeling so much happier simply for the short, simple interaction with him....

Read moreI have been going to Blue Route Mall with my parents since I was a kid, and it has always been my favourite mall in Cape Town. It is clean, safe and has everything I need for a complete shopping experience. Whether I want to watch a movie, buy a book, enjoy a meal or just browse around, I can find it all at Blue Route Mall.
One of the things I love about Blue Route Mall is the variety of shops that cater to different tastes and budgets. I can find designer sunglasses at Sunglass Hut, outdoor gear at Cape Union Mart, or books and stationery at Exclusive Books or CNA. I also like the fact that there are corridor vendors that offer good deals on accessories, gadgets or souvenirs. The mall is also very spacious and well-lit, which makes it easy to navigate and find what I am looking for.
Another thing that I enjoy about Blue Route Mall is the food court and the restaurants. There are so many options to choose from, ranging from fast food to fine dining. I can have a burger at Steers, a pizza at Debonairs, a salad at Kauai, or a steak at Spur. The food is always delicious and fresh, and the service is friendly and efficient. The mall also has a cinema complex that shows the latest movies in high quality and comfort.
Blue Route Mall is a great place to shop, eat, relax and have fun in Tokai. It has a wide range of options for everyone and a friendly and helpful staff. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quality shopping experience in Cape Town. The only thing that could make it better is if they had more parking spaces or a shuttle service to and from the nearby...
