Attended on Saturday 24th June and was surprised to get free admission. Good start. We had a bet and went to the bar to be told we had to go upstairs for draught beer. We went upstairs and after a little chat we found ourselves in the members bar, courtesy of Robyn Collyer, course manager, which was really pleasant and generous.
We watched the races from the balcony where we had a brilliant view and had a couple of winners. Kenilworth is a lovely racecourse, it was pretty quiet on this day, but I imagine it would be rocking on a busy day. If you enjoy racing which I do and are in Cape Town, go, because if you don't, you will really miss out.
Just to add, 4 large beers, a bottle of pink champagne plus a sandwich came to R490 or £21 sterling. I'm going to Sandown park this Saturday, £45 for a ticket and I expect a similar drinks package to be about3...
