We have just returned from 6 days at Dormio resorts and we had a great time .||We were looking for a quiet, peaceful holiday by the pool with direct access to the beach if we wanted it ,and that's what we got. We stayed in one of the penthouses (with roof terraces) it was wonderful , very well equipped, everything worked, AC was fine as long as you kept doors shut , we kept our shutters down during the hottest parts of the day and when we were out to keep the place cooler. |We hired a car and visited Villa Jaijoso , Patea old town (amazing) and Benidorm but it was always nice to return to the Dormio apartment at the end of the day for a last swim. We took the half board package which gave us a continental breakfast each day which we found great , service can be a little slow but your on holiday, what's the rush ? It didn't bother us. We booked each night for the Nuzza Italian restaurant, the menu was the same each night but it didn't bother me in the slightest there was plenty of choice for non fussy eaters , no good for veggies and vegans , on the last night I had Stirlion steak , it was up there with best I'd ever had , combine that with a seaview table ,the sound of the waves , it was paradise.|I was quite happy to return to the apartment with a bottle of wine , sit up on the roof and fall asleep. |My only negative was the locals using the pool after they had been to the beach , they were standing outside the gate until someone opened it and there was nobody policing entry , there wasn't even a lifeguard at the pool which was strange. At one point the pool got very overcrowded which did upset us as we had paid for the luxury, and these people were just piling in. It only happened on the Saturday, other than that issue , I can't really fault it.|I would like to say a big thanks to all the staff at Nuzza , the waitresses, especially for working with us to find solutions for my vegetarian wife and fussy daughter. Also, the tall girl at Paquais breakfast for the same reason. We really did appreciate all your efforts 👌 thanks for a...

Read moreWe really enjoyed our stay of 6 days as a family. The room/apartment was spacious and you can’t beat hearing the sound of the crashing waves 24/7! The design and planning of the resort was very well conceived so that every room had a balcony or terrace and lovely views. The pool area included a 35cm deep kiddie pool which was a highlight for our toddler. The playground is also very pleasant and colorful (and not metal, so it doesn’t get too hot.) That being said, there were some details that made it a bit complicated and frustrating to manage there with a small child, that hadn’t been communicated in advance. Kitchen is somewhat well equipped but lacking basics like salt, cooking oil, sponges, paper towels, etc., and no microwave. There was a clothes washing machine in the apartment which was great, but no detergent provided or available in small packets in the convenience store either… So you have to do a significant initial shop using a car or the tram to be able to use it. The one real restaurant doesn’t take walk-in tables and you need to call a number ahead to book. The chef and food is excellent but the servers did not seem very happy or welcoming. The more cafe style place also requested you book but usually it was ok without a reservation, though there weren’t many healthy options and it also had inconsistent hours. The spa desk was never staffed and there were often wild unsupervised children running around barefoot and using the jacuzzi spa area and workout room, which were supposed to be quiet adults only areas. The kids club also closed for 2 days mid-week, so in the end we barely used it. All in all, it’s a nice place to go if you’re going to stay a full week+ and plan to cook a lot. Another positive point: the resort is walkable to the coastal tram line, so we were able to do a day trip to Villajoyosa using public transportation and also use the tram for grocery shopping and getting to and from Alicante. We’d been concerned about feeling trapped without a car but actually...
