Caldera de Taburiente — Local services in El Paso

What a walk .. not for the faint hearted , you start at the top of the mountain with all the canary pine trees , the views are spectacular, the drive up is a little edgy as wheels come of the tiny track and you feel like your going to drop off the edge but you don't and the driver's are experienced, once on the trail which you have to stick to its lovely and easy for the first 3 miles or so , you finally reach the camp site so you can take a break , have something to eat , use the toilet, fill up water bottles there is even a little museum, then you carry on with your walk and this is where it gets tricky and fun , your walking on cliff edge one wrong move and you could end up miles below.. we went with a guide who was superb and help over some really tricky areas.. once at the bottom you end up in a dry river bed with a little stream which depending on the rain can turn into a river... its an amazing walk with amazing...

Une magnifique randonnée ! A partir du parking en bas de la vallée, il faut prendre un taxi à 51€ pour monter en haut de la caldeira. La premiere partie de la rando est magnifique, au milieu des pins, en hauteur, les sentiers sont bien tracés et permettent d'accéder au campig à 5.7km en moins de 2h. Les toilettes du camping sont propres et vous y trouverez une maquette de la caldeira tres interessante. Ensuite, on continue de descendre jusqu'à atteindre le lit de la riviere. Ca descend beaucoup mais c'est facile. La cascada de colores oblige à faire un détour de 1km (500m aller/500m retour). C'est interessant mais c'est vraiment une toute petite cascade, pas tres impressionnante... La fin de la randonnée est par contre relativement pénible : 4km à marher dans le lit de la riviere ou à coté, beaucoup de cailloux, peu d'ombre, ce n'est clairement pas la partie la plus passionnante. La randonnée est très bien fléchée, notamment au début. Attention, à la fin, dans le lit de la riviere, les panneaux et indications sont en hauteur donc il est facile de les louper si on regarde ses pieds. Bonne...
