DO NOT TRUST THE STAFF - They are scam artists!

So my girlfriend and I asked two of the staff working in the duty free what the allowance was for cigarettes back to the UK.

We wanted to double check to see if the allowance had changed since Britain leaving the EU.

Both of them said 400 cigarettes per a person.

When we arrived in the UK, the UK customs stopped us and seized all of the cigarettes, we lost over £250 due to the staff at this duty free.

We feel like we have been scammed by the Tenerife Duty Free.

Don’t trust the lying staff, and do you own research.

The worse part about this happened is that it has ruined a good holiday.

Good job Tenerife duty free for scamming us out...

Products: we were able to find the souvenirs we wanted to buy so personally I would say It has an ok selection of products including the banana wine and handmade soaps. However the prices were all much higher than buying outside of the airport which was disappointing. Staff: some were very dismissive and some were friendly and smiley. Mostly the cashier service felt like they just wanted to rush through as many customers as possible and they weren't shy to show their impatience. Useful info: they gave a 15% off voucher along with receipt to use in the same store on the same day. I wished we had noticed it when my partner had payed for his purchase before me and we could have saved...

RUDE AND BOORISH SECURITY STAFF

I was in the duty free and scanned the product code with the Yuka app to check if it was good as I have thyroid problems and needed to know what ingredients it had against it. At that moment I was approached by a security lady (short and with short hair) aggressively shouting at me that I could not take photos. I calmly replied that I wasn't taking photos and showed her the app, she shouted at me again saying she didn't care and that she would throw me out. Then she laughed about it with a shop assistant. If there are rules I respect them, but you don't approach people like that. There weren't even signs saying that you couldn't do that, and nowhere did it occur to me that you couldn't take photos in a duty free area in an airport. Lack of humanity, professionalism and respect.

PERSONAL DE SEGURIDAD MALEDUCADO Y GROSERO

Estaba en el duty free y escaneé el código del producto con la app Yuka para comprobar si era bueno ya que tengo problemas de tiroides y necesitaba saber qué ingredientes tenía en contra. En ese momento se me acercó una señora de seguridad (bajita y con el pelo corto) gritándome agresivamente que no podía hacer fotos. Le contesté tranquilamente que no estaba haciendo fotos y le enseñé la aplicación, me volvió a gritar diciendo que no le importaba y que me echaría. Luego se rió con una dependienta. Si hay normas, las respeto, pero a la gente no se la aborda así. Ni siquiera había carteles que dijeran que no se podía hacer eso, y en ningún sitio se me ocurrió que no se pudieran hacer fotos en una zona duty free de un aeropuerto. Falta desarmante de profesionalidad, humanidad...
