At the beginning I will share instructions how to get there. Drive to the village of Ye to the church, there is a small parking there. If you are standing in front of the church, you see Monte corona behind. On the left end of parking (looking towards church) you will se two guide posts (signs) one to volcano, another to Aloe vera fabrica shop. both the same direction. Go that way, after ca. 50m, you will go through narrow road between houses or walls on both sides, go another ca. 50m there are 2 something like milestones on the right marking entrance to private gravel road. there is also another sign to Aloe vera shop at the second stone. ( If you come to another house, you are to far. We came to far, to that aloe shop, which is also some kind of info center, there was very kind female shop asistent, she pointed us back and told the instructions.) go right through that entrance towards volcano 5.after ca. 50m you will see another entrance closed with chain (or opened with chain on the ground) and sign with Spanish information telling something like "vehicles forbidden, hikers allowed" go through towards volcano, there is just one wide way or later narrow and steep path, you cannot miss it.
It is a short walk, i think it was 1 hour forth and back. I liked it because we were alone, we have met like 2 other small groups. It was very windy up there (i mean really, had problem to hold my phone steady while shooting panorama) but it was maybe just bad luck.
I will share...
Read moreThank you Google reviewers for helping me find this spot. This crater is AMAZING, and was glad that this place wasn't a more famous place on the island. I found this to be more exciting than the all popular fire mountains, located at the national park on the Southwestern side of the island.
To essentially quote Anthony Hua, another reviewer, if you are coming by car, park at the church in nearby Ye, facing away from the church, turn right and follow the road and then you'll see a path to your right shortly after. It takes you briefly though one of the common vineyards of Lanzarote, and leads you right to the crater.
Walking up towards the edge of the crater was an amazing and stunning experience for me, I've never seen anything like it. I climbed to the top of the mountain (as far as I could), and then went down to the bottom of the crater...sliding like down carefully on the loose rock path. At the bottom, I sang some songs because I was intrigued at the echo it created...I'm a weird guy...I didn't care people up top could hear haha.
Climbing up out of the crater was tough...but I got a good workout.
DEFINITELY recommend. You'll love it. Stop by a nearby beach once you're done, that'll feel good...let me recommend CALETON BLANCO (not many waves and a great...
Read moreTotally amazing experience seeing a vulcanoe crater. A bit tricky to find the trail to it, but once you are there it's pretty much an easy trail to hike. Takes about 30-40 mins to get to the crater, the walk is pretty enjoyable as you pass trough beautiful vineyards and cactus plantations, absolutely majestic views. As it was written before in reviews, you need to find the house nr.18 in the village of Ye and on the left side there is a ground road were you can proceed with your walk. The crater itself is huge and beautiful, you can make a tour around the crater or down to the bottom of it, this is were you might definitely need hiking shoes. Might be cloudy in the morning, but it clears away during the day and you can definitely enjoy the views. A must experience to do in Lanzarote....
