Course built mostly in narrow valleys bordered by tall pines trees. 6 par 3s (!) and some par 5s that need a compass to find your way. Tee boxes are challenging to find (with often huge differences from mens yellow to ladies blues/ reds). Tee boxes are mostly blind ie can't see the greens. Be sure to study the hole plan on the tee boxes although it will still leave a first time visitor having to make wild guesses as no distances are marked. Greens were slow when I played on Sunday.
Definitely not a walking course. Having said that, so many of the fairways are blocked to buggies that walking large distances often down and up steep inclines getting to balls on the fairways from the buggy paths is inevitable. The buggies are the slowest on the coast, likely for safety as the buggy paths are tortuous and steep in many places. A challenge for novice drivers but still gives an opportunity for a snack along the way from green to the next box as the travel distance between them can be quite long. Drinks are available from a kiosk on the 9th. A beautiful set up with views. A 10 minute rest is advised on the large sign there but beware that prices are on the high side.
Building is in progress, with what is likely significantly more to come around the course so beware then of wayward drives into pools and patios.
A picturesque course in good condition to view or have a good walk, but...
Read moreOverall the course was a good knock. All but one of the greens was in good condition. It can be a bit tricky as a good few of the holes are blind, wish I had picked up a course guide.
Practice facilities are decent enough with a 2 tiered driving range. Top tip: if you pick a smaller basket up don't place it on the obvious hook on the ball dispenser as you'll have to scramble to collect some rogue balls.
We played as a 3 with handicaps of 26, 21 and 15. Obviously we had mixed abilities and the course challenged each of us in varying ways.
My only real issue with the place was the overzealous marshalls floating around. We were informed that we had fallen slightly behind the group infront and we should speed up, fair enough ordinarily. On this occasion though we were 2 clear holes ahead of the 4-ball behind us and the 2-ball in front of us were mid to low teen handicaps. I mentioned this to the Marshall who seemed oblivious to this fact. In the end we finished half a hole behind the 2-ball and 45 mins ahead of the group behind.
I would play this course again as it was cheeky enough but enjoyable. Having said that there are plenty of courses in the vicinity (we played Calanova, Torrequebrada and Santana) that are as good if not better and with better less...
Read morePlayed about 5/6 courses around this area and this one ranks as the least enjoyable. I enjoy a challenge and the course is def challenging to play. However you need to pretty much study the course a day before to understand how the greens are, what club to use and the green orientations. About 50% of the holes have blind shots either from the tee box or from the fairway. The distance markers were unreliable when i checked against the laser. You really need to study the green orientation. Lots of crazy little bounces. You 100% need a buggy and there is alot of running back and forth between the buggy which is usually on some road high above you, because you don't know any distances or where to hit the ball. If I had a caddy or if the buggies had a screen maybe i would've enjoyed the course more but the fact that i hit about 5-6 flush iron shots from a blind shot to then find them OB or overshooting the green because of a weird bounce is not my idea of a fun or functional golf course. Just trying to give a real review of the course design. In other aspects the place was lovely, good service, a bit annoying that you had to buy a rubber tee for the range. The restaurant was exquisite, place is worth going...
