A Charming Sunday Market Experience in Santa Maria del Camí – The Best in Southwest Mallorca
This was my third visit to the Sunday market in Santa Maria del Camí, and once again, it exceeded expectations. In my opinion, it’s the best local market in the southwest region of Mallorca – not just for its variety, but for its atmosphere, charm, and authentic Mallorcan feel.
This time, we came as a family – my daughter, my young grandchildren, and my husband. We took a lovely walk through the beautiful village of Santa Maria del Camí, which in itself is worth a visit, with its traditional stone buildings and relaxed pace. We ended up at the market, where everyone found something delicious to try.
We bought our usual vegetables and fruit, but my personal favorite – and one of the hidden gems of the market – are the semi-dried tomatoes. They’re incredibly flavorful and perfect for pasta dishes, sandwiches, or simply as a tapa. If you love Mediterranean cooking, don’t miss them.
According to a sign at the entrance, this is an eco-friendly market that supports local, sustainable farming – and I certainly hope that’s true. Supporting local farmers and artisans feels even more rewarding in such a setting.
You’ll find everything you’d hope for in a Mediterranean market: 🍯 Local honey 🧀 Cheese and charcuterie 🍇 Fresh produce 🫒 Delicious olives of every variety 👗 Simple, charming summer clothing 👜 Woven market bags and accessories 👶 Children’s clothes adapted to the local climate
The market is held every Sunday morning and generally closes around 1 PM, so it’s best to arrive early to enjoy the full experience. There’s a large parking lot at the entrance to the village, making access easy even with little ones.
Whether you’re a visitor or a local, this market offers a delightful way to spend a Sunday morning. You’ll not only discover beautiful products and delicious food but also support the vibrant rural life of Mallorca.
Highly recommended – a weekly highlight...
