Reservoir La Viñuela — Local services in Viñuela

Beautiful Reservoir, unfortunately hydrologically dead (2023/24). The scarcity can be experienced best when you visit this place yearly like we do. However the region around is wonderful for getting a clear head, hike and bike around.

The region was about to be touristically interesting, but without enough water in the reservoir the picknic areas are just dead, boat tours no longer possible and bathing not recommended.

we recommend this anyway to get a better understanding of what "scarcity" and wasting water actually means.

Just half an hour inland from the coast nestled in a large and beautiful valley you will find Lake Vinuela. It is reservoir in an area known as the Axarquia. There are great views to be had, lovely walks by the lake and plenty of good places to rest for a drink or food. Restaurants, bars, local villages and the excellent Hotel La Vinuela are all close by. We absolutely love the Lake Viñuela as a perfect little Getaway from the noises of the Villages around us. It’s a huge areal to explore.
