Very crowded loud gym with weird and discouraging setting. People go here to "be seen", but there are 5 other gyms with rope climbing in Stockholm. Has a lot of bouldering areas, more than any of the other gyms, rope or bouldering, in this city, but the grading for the boulders is stiff as well, although it has a wide variety of boulders and is great training. In some ways the climbing at this gym would likely make you a good comp climber but not likely a great outdoor climber as there are few rests built into routes and far too many boulder cruxes for the grades (without rests). I managed to send my first 7a sport route outside while only able to manage 6a+ at this gym, and my first 7b outside while only managing 6b at this gym to give you an idea!
Back a few years ago it was notorious for things being stolen like I had a chalk bag and a single shoe taken? And it was similar for my friends, but perhaps that has gotten better.
The tunnel is also very weird, Karbin and Sickla both have tunnels as well which are set to sport grades, but the tunnel follows the routes at Telefonplan in mostly matching the boulder grades, when at that much of an overhang the grade should go up a bit instead of being a strong setter's perceived idea of the grade! Perhaps the other gyms are soft but - their tunnels are generally more flowy and better route training (you can do laps in the others) than at Telefonplan which is mostly just a long, long boulder.
It does have a good community of people and you'll see most people there during the winter that you see outside, although as I said, there are now gyms with better routes which are less crowded options and much better training for...

First off, I absolutely love this place. A bunch of awesome people gathering all around to climb walls of all types. The one by the staircase, that leans backwards for about ten meters looks like hell. Fun hell, but he'll none the less. Hopefully I can take it one day. They've got a small gym on the third floor from where you can look at climbers, which is great for those looking to get a proper workout while also having a lot of fun. I cycled for about ten minutes before my climbing continued.
The smaller walls are great for beginners (like me) but I am really looking forward to finding a climbing partner and taking on the larger walls with proper equipment eventually.
I received great treatment from the staff, enough for a few standing ovations from my end. I could see myself spendingaybe there or four hours here one day. Climbing, gymming a bit, having a coffee and then continuing. I haven't been to many others like this one, so my score is influenced by that but I'm a full member now and I plan to revisit more than just...
Read moreIt's seemingly the biggest gym in Stockholm. The facilities are good but the route setting is meh. For some reason the setters believe that hard routes = smooth sloper grips, instead of making technical climbs. There are no crimpy routes with proper crimp grips, when they try, all the grips are smooth and sloping on top, because hard = slope. The ropes are mostly old and not round anymore, leading to a very bumpy ride down. Wear on the ropes causing them to become flat could be improved by using a drum system like I attached to the review. The gym upstairs is sorely lacking compared to the climbing gyms I've used elsewhere. There's also a bigger focus on bouldering than sport climbing with a new addition of an entire hall for bouldering. 5/10, one of the places to climb...
