It is with regret that I feel the need to revise my review. I last visited in 2019 and reviewed 5 stars. I have visited many times previously (6 or 7 times at least), and most recently in Summer 2022. I now revise my review (2022) to 2 stars.
The reason? It was way too busy and the staff, although very friendly and helpful, did little to police the people that were flagrantly disobeying the rules. These were people that were more interested in filming themselves going down the mountain, or fluffing up their hair so their closely following friend could photograph them for Instagram, than experiencing the thrill ride the Rodelbahn should be. People were slowly trundling down the ride, spoling it for everyone else. Filming it as they went, despite the multitude of signs saying "no phones" during the ride.
Unfortunately, as a result of this, and the large number of people there, the queues were excessive, meaning that we had to abandon our day, with unspent tickets.
Slow riders spoil the ride because other people that want the thrill have to stop part way down so as not to crash into them. Slow riders should be encouraged to take the Fly Ride that's recently opened instead. Slow riding is dangerous, as slow riders either risk being crashed into, or require following riders to stop, then risking being crashed into.
Stay away on busy days, is my considered opinion. It's just not worth it. Unfortunately, I will be...
Read moreDon’t waste your time on this. Speed - this is a very slow Rodelbahn and no where close to the ones you get in Germany like the one in the Blackforest area which is very fast and lot of fun. The slope is gradual and far less curves and slow. It’s also a very short one Safety - unlike the German ones which travel on rails and have actual seats with seat belts. Here Instead you just plonk yourself on the cart with no place to hold, and the cart itself travels on a steel half tube. In the turns if you are fast you can lose balance and fall off the cart, we saw someone fall and get hurt. Admin - the staff cared less and not enforce the rules. It’s clearly written that you cannot film during the run, but people are always on the phone. They don’t even push forward and film the entire ride at snails pace. This spoils the run for people behind and also is a risk if they drop their phones or bags on the track which can topple another cart. Price - don’t get fooled by the price of 6CHF per run. You first need to get to the top using a cable car which is 28CHF for the round trip. Extremely expensive cable car for a 5 min ride. Cable cars upto Murren or to Gimmelwald offer better views and much lower price. And there is not much to do up here . There is a restaurant and the fly line (a super slow zip line,...
Read moreTourist trap on the mountain. The walk to the rodelbahn from Grindelwald is not particularly noteworthy, so that leaves you with the cable car as the only viable option to go there and to leave it. The cable car is relatively expensive (22 euro for a single yourney; the steepest cable car in the world, going to Mürren in the nearby Lauterbrunnen valley is for example, a lot cheaper: about 12-13 euro for a single ticket). Did you already know the cable car (june 2025) is nót included in the Jungfrau travelpass? The zip line was fun but comparatively expensive (15 euro pp for a 5-6 min ride, compare that to the entrance price of Europapark: 50 euro for 9 hours of fun). The action photo of the zipline cost me another 5 euro for a mere 300kb file. The rodelbahn itself is basically jammed by inexperienced tourists (the whole jungfrau region contains a lot of tourists who probably visit Europe once), not only did this group cause a huge traffic jam, but they also actually were able to break down the end of the rodelbahn where there’s a short conveyor belt. There was basically no operator at the rodelbahn after I purchased my ticket in june 2025. If you do decide to go, go early in the morning as capacity is limited and long...
