Literally the most beautiful view you will ever see in your life, make sure to go on a sunny day to get the best views possible. To get up there, you need to take a funicular from Montreux that will take you all the way up there, it costs around 15 to 20CHF (one way). Thereâs also the option to walk which I personally didnât do because I donât have the capabilitiesđ , but itâs definitely something you should do if you can. Once arrived at the top you will need to walk another 5 to 10 minutes to reach the observatory deck (which is where I took these photos). There is a restaurant at the top which does have some outrageous prices like a glass of Coca Cola being 5chf, but itâs Switzerland so you get used to it. One last thing, when boarding the train make sure to be one of the first ones in since itâs a pretty popular destination especially for elderly people so to get a good seat you need to be first in. If youâre planning to go just know you will be there for at least three hours since getting up there takes at least one hour and a half. There isnât much else to do up there apart from taking in the amazing views so donât worry if youâll feel like the trip...
Read moreAn unforgettable experience to take the 1-hour train ride up to the top of the Rochers-de-Naye, with unparalled views over Lake Geneva and the Alps! Excellent hiking opportunities at the top, for those who like to hike. We only spent one hour at the peak marvelling at the fantastic view, before taking the next train down the mountain, but it was definitely worth it. If you're in the area and have half a day to spare, do not miss this opportunity! The only criticism is the following: We bought our train tickets at one of the machines at Montreux Station, and wanting to travel in style, we selected 1st class, paying an additional CHF 5 per person - unaware that the train does not have a 1st class section. When we asked the conductor about it, he indicated that we could get a refund at the counter, but as departure was imminent, there was no time for that, nor after our descent, when we had to move on. It would be useful to either re-programme the ticket machines, so that the 1st class option doesn't even appear for this route, or if not possible, to at least put a notice on the machine, to let...
Read moreTook the cog train from Montreux up to Rochers de Naye at 2042m. The train travels slowly but offers magnificent views of Lake Geneva and the countryside as it climbs up to the Rochers de Naye station arriving in just under an hour. There is a good restaurant there if youâre hungry or just want a drink. A nice large patio is there for those who just want to enjoy the view from there. I walked an additional 10 minutes uphill to the lookout point. The trail is clear with a medium slope, but has loose gravel and sharp rocks in places. I wouldnât recommend it for people who are concerned about falling. The view from the lookout is fantastic. You can see all the way down Lake Geneva from Montreux to Morges. You can also see the Swiss Skyline (Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau) in the distance. There is also a short 5 min walk in the other direction from the restaurant to an alpine botanical garden. Along that walk you get a great view of Lake Hongrin on one side, and on the other a view of the valley leading towards Gruyeres and Le Moleson. The train down leaves every hour. Definitely...
