I was fortunate to have a private safari in Mikumi National Park with Silas in July 2019. I was in Dar es Salaam volunteering for three weeks and needed to schedule a quick overnight visit to Mikumi while I was there. I found Silas through some excellent online reviews and reached out to him to inquire about booking. Throughout, his communication was quick, welcoming and professional. Silas and his driver picked me up from my accommodation in Dar and drove me to the park. Along the drive (which is very long due to Tanzanian traffic) Silas provided good commentary on what I was seeing along the road. Once at the park, we were fortunate to see giraffes, impalas, warthogs, wildebeests, zebras, and hippos on the first afternoon before sunset. We were up early the next morning for a post-sunrise drive, but the park was fairly quiet. When we returned to camp for breakfast, we were surprised by four elephants also eating their breakfast just steps away from the cabins. It was an incredible to stand just feet away from these magnificent creatures and just watch them grazing. After breakfast, we went back out in the jeep and saw more elephants and giraffes. Silas had received word that there was a lion sighting in the park and he was determined to find them. We drove for an hour and managed to see two male lions hunting in the tall grasses. An unforgettable experience!
I would highly recommend Silas if you are looking for a guide in Tanzania. He is young, enthusiastic, and has lots of knowledge to share about the animals and plants found in the beautiful African countryside. Silas is passionate about building his tourism business, and based on his enthusiasm and personality, I am sure he will...
Read moreThis was the first time visit of Mikumi and the 2nd for my family. The first thing that really got my attention was the ontime arrival of our driver cum tour guide Silas. At Mikumi, the arrangement was smooth and entrance clearance took less time than I had expected on a sunday. We knew that Mikumi National Park has only 4 of the big 5..so we managed through patience of our guide to see 3. This is the ultimate experience of safaris, seeing the big 5. The hot meals arrangement wasn't short of expectation as the kids had their minds focused on the animals. The thing that got my attention was the vast knowledge our guide Silas had, he was that extra smart compared to other guides I had been with before. Im not so bad myself with wildlife knowledge and as i listened to him I could tell he was well placed for the job. We had an amazing time and being recommended to this company by another tour operator was a testimony of how reliable you guys are. Thank you for the lifetime experience Silas and Co. ..and ooh...the photo shoots were out of this world. The lioness yawning..I have never seen anything like it. Thanx again and wish to seeing you soon in our...
Read moreWe booked a 5 day tour with TanzAmerica for a short holiday and a much needed gateway. They were helpful and provided 5 star service from the beginning to the end. Silas was assigned as our tour guide and took care of everything for us once we reached Zanzibar. On the first day, we relaxed and then went to the Forodhani night food market to try some local delicacies. This was quite fun as we tried some foods quite unique to the region. On day two, we did a full day tour of Stone Town and Prison Island. A very interesting and knowledge filled day learning about the history of Tanzania. We also enjoyed lunching at a local restaurant and checking out the Freddy Mercury museum. On day three to five, we drove up to Kendwa beach at the northern part of the island and did many activities there, one full day of which was spent island hopping with a Safari Blue experience. All in all a great holiday. I would recommend TanzAmerica safari's for a great time in Zanzibar. Our guide Silas, was respectful and kind was with us throughout the day each day and helped us ensure that we were having the best time on...
