Koyky Old Market ( ตลาดเก่าโคยกี๊ ราชบุรี ) is located on Woradesh rd., Tambon Na Mueang, Amphoe Mueang Ratchaburi, Chang Wat Ratchaburi. The “ Koyky “ named after its’ location ( “ Koy “ Chinese pronounced means canal and “ ky “ means nearby or rim or edge ), where situated nearby Mae Klong River. On the ancient times, this place was the famous distribution of glazed water jar with dragon patterns market because of its’s location aforementioned, transportation of goods by boats on this river was cheapest and convenient. As of such, these kind of jars spread to the whole country since then, not only the durability but also the classic and particular color, they are famous until preset day. Due to civilization, usability of these jar decreases, on the purpose of boosting economic and promoting tourism people in this community are united in action and spirit to resurrect the old atmosphere back to this place. We like to visit night markets whenever we travel to new places in Thailand, Koi Kee Old Market is one of the more memorable ones that we’ve been too. Although it’s not very big, there is a good selection of Thai and Western style food along the banks of the river, and if you can’t find anything you like to eat, there is the Sanam Ya food hall right next door serving Thai and Chinese style food.
If you are in Ratchaburi on a weekend it’s definitely worth to come to Koi Kee Night Market, but beware that there is no parking nearby. You can either try to find street parking on Ammarin road, or park at the nearby Lotus’s and walk about 7-8 minutes to the night market.
Additional tip: there are apparently sunset river cruises leaving from the same area where the market is. We couldn’t go, as it was already too late, but we could see the cruise signs (all in Thai) I think the price was...
Read moreWe saw Koi Kee for Chinese New Year 2567 / 2024 AC. It was very wonderful to see. Koi Kee market was on the bridge side. Plenty of food sellers - very delicious noodles and smoothie drinks. Then in the middle was the Mueang Ratchaburi officials making announcements. Then was motorcycle show, unicycle too. Near museum side, was the stage with singers. In middle was also the acrobat people doing the Chinese dragon and dog show. Very nice with fireworks....
