Queen Elizabeth II Country park — Local services in Ashington

A absolutely shocking service, or lack of service!! We waited 10 mins to be Seated then after 20mins they took our order which took another 30mins!! Drinks aswell which came in pint glasses! After waiting over 1 hour they said sorry for the delay! There was less than 25% capacity & no reason given. We were told it's been another 20mins til it was ready which was when we had to leave cos our children were so hungry & it was past a joke really. We ended up taking the kids to kfc. Disgusting really. I will not be returning out it that way. Really...

Stayed at the premier inn on the grounds and a staff member recommended a walk around the lake. It’s a mile and three quarters walk and there is a hard packed path all the way around. There are benches placed around resting and taking in the scenery. I believe you also walk past the Woodhorn museum and and Woodhorn Narrow Guage Railway but both of these attractions were closed. There was also a coffee truck there both Saturday and Sunday but I did not get to sample here. Also going by how many people were fishing here I guess it’s a good spot...

I would love to rate it higher as the place itself is lovely, but the amount of litter was sickening. I went out with a litterpicker and filled four full rubbish bags with wrappers, cans, bottles, discarded fishing gear, plastic bags etc. That was only one short walk around the lake, the litter goes deep into the forests and there was a lot I couldn't reach in the water.

Visitors should take their rubbish home with them, that is essential for keeping it tidy, but there really could be more bins, at the very least each bench...
