We live in Eastleigh the journey to Bristol is an easy one the on M3, A34 and then M4. It 103.0miles we done it in 1hr 40mins with no traffic. In rush hour it take 2hr 10mins. Not a bad journey.
Me and James have been waiting a long time to go back to Bristol because last time we were there it was the old track. Reopen in 26th November 2016 with a New 800m Track and New Biz Evo3 Karts 200cc!!
The new track is a very technical, you have to let off in the right places and once you have found the grip again, back to full power. If you try to go into a corner to quick you will spin out. If you have never done this track before make sure that you do a slow lap first! Especially the part coming off the bridge into the big corner. It's a very nice game of chicken when you need break and then back on the power. Once you figured it out its a lot of fun!
Bristol do a lot of members events and they all look very exciting. They do a different Monthly VIP pass. Which saves you a lot of money if you plan whole month of events. We each brought Gold Monthly VIP Pass (Any four Events) in one month. It was £110 per person save me and Ami £40 which then pay for most of the petrol bill!
We did two lots of Track Attack on the 27/06/2017 our 1st first visits. Which is 4x15mins we did two lot of these back to back. 2hr of karting! This was a great way to learn the track. Learn a lot from the regulars members. Our quickest lap time were Me - 72kg - 39.337 James - 112kg - 39.826 Thank you too all the staff who ran the event Diego, Jake, Tom, Josh and Claire!
Second visited we did Members Unlimited on the 27/06/2017 Which is 6x10mins and a great way to learn how to overtake people on the track. The very last session they do a reverse grid race which is a lot of fun. Our quickest lap time were Me - 72kg - 42.831 James - 112kg - 42.872 Thank you too all the staff who ran the event Josh, Harrison, Cassey, Brandon, Shannon & Charmaine!
Our third visit which was our last visit in June we did BIKT on the 27/06/2017. Which is 5mins practice, Hot lap qualifier and 45min race! These types of events are a lot of fun and great because everyone knows the racing line. Which means everyone it will be quick and get quicker during the event. Also everyone knows the rules of no bumping and pushing. The marshals at Bristol are always watching and always on top of everything. Not that we saw a black flag that evening but I did see that no bumping sign just to remind to take your time to overtake properly. Thank you too all the staff who ran this event Diego, Jake, Harrison, Darren and Tom. It was one of the best races of hand for a long time and a lot of fun and highly recommend this one.
Our quickest lap time and our personal best were Me - 72kg - 38.166 James - 112kg - 38.980
Every visit was amazing, all the staff were friendly, politeness and very helpful. If there was a trick on the track and you can't figure it out, ask any of them how to do it, as they all really enjoy karting. All the regular members all really friendly too and made a lot of new friends. Would high recommend this place!
Now want to say a big thank you to two of the staff who work at Bristol. The first thank you is to Jake we met him last time when it was the old track and took a very nice photo of us in the kart. He done a great job taken the new one. Thank you Jake and see you soon. A very big thank you to Diego, he runs all the members events he organises all the member events and he also does some really cool graphics which are on the Teamsport Bristol Facebook page. There amazing, they give you all the information you need. Simple to read and understand. After every event he posts the results so you can see how everyone did, Just great way sharing the result with your friends and family. He's a really nice to chat too and he explains everything very well. Thank you very much Diego hope to...
Read moreWe went to the Bristol track June 2019 for our daughter's 11th Birthday and left feeling guilty because it absolutely ruined her day. I have emailed the company with my complaint, however, I am not counting on getting a reply judging by other reviews left on other websites.
Where do I start...
The staff are extremely rude and unhelpful, there is no sense of spirit or enthusiasm to get people feeling up beat or hyped. They all just chat among themselves and then proceed to be rude to all the customers. It's as if the customers are an inconvenience being there, making them do their JOB.
We paid extra for head cams so we could view the footage after and were not told the process for this, so during our first race asked a member of staff and got answered with a shrug and an "I don't know" - nothing else. When the host finally came over with the cams we weren't told anything, the lady just shoved them on our heads and didn't say a word or look at us. She was rough and might as well have just punched them on our heads. There was no sense of courtesy or friendliness there. We later got sent the WRONG footage from the head cams anyway!
The host sorting out our karts just shouted at everyone, even the kids. Her attitude was disgusting. I asked her to move my seat forward as I literally couldn't physically reach the pedals without slumping right down into my seat and she snapped "THE RACE HASN'T STARTED YET" and then forgot to do so anyway until I made a fuss during the break test. We went to the bar after as it was absolutely BOILING in there and the staff were sat at the back, chatting and generally having a laugh amongst themselves, ignoring us even though they could see we were waiting. After around 10 minutes I resorted to walking behind the bar myself so I could MAKE someone serve me, the lady serving then huffed and puffed about it!
Between races everyone just wanders around a bit blindly as the host doesn't bother coming up to give the group a "you did great, have some fun" kind of chat. You then have to essentially guess when the race has started again because no one tells you when it's starting or comes up to escort the group down. You get introduced to "the host" at the start but really they don't host anything, it's a misleading title. We assumed it meant that the member of staff would be there to answer questions, help with equipment and generally be an upbeat presence but we didn't see him until we were leaving.
You pay for 15 minutes a race, however, you actually only get about 9 after waiting for the staff to finish doing what they're doing (mostly chatting and sulking) as well as getting everyone to do their break tests - ironic they make us do that for "safety" and then proceed to allow all the pathetic formula 1 wannabes to drive so dangerously, even smashing into little kids. I was cringing for them. One of these was a Middle Aged dad who kept bumping into me, once smashing into the side of my kart at what felt like top speed. I ended up in A&E with a fractured rib after.
After EACH race EACH driver is supposed to get a print out of their race time as it specifies on the website that it's included when you book, however the bar staff didn't print enough of them so I had to ask for one and was greeted with an eye roll and a tut. Don't expect much either as it's not a fancy print out, it's a basic piece straight from the printer. For the price I was expecting something a little better. I would have thought common sense would tell them to print the same amount of papers to racers.
They ask at the end if you want to come back at a discounted rate, however, you couldn't PAY ME to go back after our terrible...
Read more20/35 on my tour of TeamSport tracks. I managed to make this one after visiting Practical Classics Restoration Show at the NEC as it was only another 90 mins drive.
On the TeamSport website Bristol is listed as an 800m track although after visiting many other tracks of the same length I do struggle to believe it is this long? Every track is different but for comparison Leeds is a 580m track with much more fast sections taking 42s approximately but even my first session at Bristol was a 40s lap and it just doesn't feel anywhere near as long.
Bristol is very similar to the track at Eastleigh, there's very little grip on the polished concrete and a short upstairs section on wood which offers much more grip. At the Bristol track there are some very odd variations in grip on the concrete though. Take a slightly different line to the previous lap and you'll spin out, as I got more confident in the second session I was carrying much more speed as you pass over the line but I went slightly wider than I had previously and I was very close to a spin. Also on the following corner after having very little grip there's a point here where you suddenly gain traction. Thereafter there's no grip until you get onto the upper level, the hairpin before the up ramp completely threw me, I didn't seem to be able to get close to the Apex on any lap, every speed, braking and cornering alteration didn't seem to help. The double hairpin on the upper level right before the down ramp I'm sure I could take some advice on, I went wide and the close to the wall on the left to try hold more speed for the hairpin onto the down ramp. Anyone who has been to Eastleigh will recognise the similarities between tracks from the down ramp all the way to the start line at and the technique is exactly the same, sliding in on no throttle until you're ready to go straight.
Considering previous experiences on public sessions and how bad the 342 group we watched while waiting to get on track, I got a very good session, there were very few yellow flags and in general the group was very fast with the majority of best laps between 39-42s. My best lap on the first session was 40.380s and on the second session I managed to improve to 39.212s, strangely my best lap on both sessions was lap 18 and in the second session I could feel my driving getting sloppy later on. 39.212s placed me at 539 on the leaderboard and I'm very happy to achieve top 1,000 on a first visit in all honesty. Full video of the sessions uploaded to my channel on YouTube.
Overall a great experience on this visit, great staff, great session with clean drivers and a great track other than the questionable 800m measurement.
I'm touring all the TeamSport locations, please check out the playlist on my...
