What an incredible little Gem, we took our 3 yr old and 5 yr old here this weekend just gone as something different to do.

The area is clean, tidy and was spacious for the capacity of people there on a sunny Saturday.

We booked the bug handeling experience and started off with that. The individual who done the handeling / talking on our side of the counter is an absolute credit to the attraction. (Guy in a hoodie, beanie and longish hair) - he absolutely knew his stuff and had a huge range of knowledge šŸ‘šŸ¼. If you've got an extra Ā£2 a person it's worth doing.

The bug houses contain a variety of information, on different species located inside. I probably will return at some point without the children so I have more time to focus on the information.

Pond dipping session were exciting fun for the children with members giving out information of what was found within.

Park area was a great way for the children to have a break from all the looking and exploring of the bug areas.

This place also had plenty of toilet facilities that were kept very clean.

I think the ticket price is fair and definitely would return in the future, this place is a brilliant day out for doing something different.

If I was to suggest some slighter improvements for this place to consider it would be:

More harder sheltered picnic benches for outside, we visited on a sunny day, but don't think the day would have been more of a joy if it was raining.

Potentially move the ice cream away from the gift shop / entrance counter into a separate shack, just because of wait times when people are lining up.

Explore the use of audio for providing information in certain areas.

overall a great day that wasn't rushed or hurried, that the adults and kids enjoyed. This place is clean, fun and interesting. And had me leaving wondering how the spiders didn't escape the exhibition...

My sister and I went for her birthday, and adored it. Which considering we are both experienced insect keepers in no small feat. Good sized enclosures, animals are clearly happy and well cared for. Still in development but what they had was great, and the staff were very friendly. Really enjoyed the insect handling experience, which was unbelievably reasonably priced at £2 per person plus general admission, and able to be booked on the day. Might recommend booking in advance in the summer months but it wasn't necessary in October. It was pretty quiet for a Sunday, but that's perfect for us. It has a very relaxed feel and reminds me of visiting my fun relatives with unusual pets, which has been one of our favourite pastimes.

Highlights for me were the milipedes, leaf cutter ant exhibit with visible mycelium structures (whoever built the sprawling enclosures and transportation routes deserves a raise and possibly some sort of award), and excellent specimen collections on display. Was surprised and delighted to find several species of crabs being kept too. Large arachnid collection and the scorpion enclosures were equipped with uv lights that you can turn on for a fun surprise, which I won't spoil for the uninitiated.

Loved this as adults, and would have loved it as kids. We will definitely be going back when more attractions have opened up, possibly even before. Lovely day out; would and...

Found this place online when looking for a cheap activity to do with my teenage daughter. Already a great little site with big plans to go over the next few years.

There is a large car park on site so no worries yet about having to look for alternatives.

When we visited there were 3 rooms up and running featuring a butterfly collection, nocturnal creepy crawlies, scorpions, grasshoppers, praying mantis, cockroaches, spiders, beetles, ands and much more.

If your little ones get bored there is a small play area for the little ones with a picnic area attached so you can keep an eye on them. There is an onsite cafe and really nice toilet facilities available. The gist shop has a great range of stock from inexpensive pocket money buys like keyrings, to metal garden insect sculptures (you can also find equipment here to start your own bug collections if your interest is piqued).

On our visit we were fortunate to bump into the owner who was clearly passionate about this next chapter of his collecting and more than happy to talk about his plans and answer any questions

Highlight of the visit was the bug handling experience where, for a small additional fee, we were able to hold the small creatures and were given a really insightful talk about them and their habitats.

All in all a great (reasonably) inexpensive way to kill a few hours,...

Heard about this place through a friend who had been and couldn’t recommend it enough so we gave it a go yesterday! Couldn’t have been more impressed with the entire place! Looks like you won’t be there long upon first arrival however we were there 1030-430pm, there is a sand pit, park area, jumping pillow, park and pedal go karts with my 6 year old loved! Also really lovely cafe with lots and lots of options on the menu including dairy free, vegan etc! If you bring a pack up there is lots of picnic benches close to the play areas so you can eat and keep an eye on your little ones! We went to both talk shows and booked to handle the animals which lasted around 30 mins for a small fee to pay! The bug talks and face painting are all included in the entrance fee! Martin hosts the talks and he is the one who built the museum! His talk about the ants was impressive and thoroughly enjoyed learning about them! Pond dipping was very fun and Martin took his time to go round to everyone and explain their pond findings to them! Please, whether you have visited the parc or not, please check out their crowd funding page for the new butterfly house being opened!

Apart from some small niggles, this presented a very good experience for two adults. The information was comprehensive, though I'm not sure to whom the silly jokes are aimed, they weaken the education in my opinion. One poster at the start appears to have two glaring misspellings of the word Mantis (calling them Mantids). I was also rather put out by the excessive use of plastic plants which contradicted the environmental impact aspect. Another little niggle was the use of the word Bugs or Bugz which is an Americanism. Bugs are a collective term for Hemiptera, of which there were very few here. What you can find are many species of animals, including (from memory) insects, spiders, beetles, snails, slugs, crabs and cockroaches. There is also a lovely butterfly sanctuary, where, if your are lucky, they will land on you for a great photo. In the middle of it all kids a great kids playground and picnic benches. If it is raining, there's a covered seating area for picnics. The cafe menu was excellent, as was the service. Personally, I'd return outside of school holidays just because small children can be noisy in enclosed spaces (I was once one myself) 😁
