Visited on bank holiday Monday (29/05/23) with 2 of my mates, we just rocked up and didn't book but despite there only being 3 of us the staff let us do the Grand Prix session which is usually a minimum of 6 people as long as we waited for the current session and the one after to end.
We were given a safety brief and overalls by a relatively unenthusiastic member of staff and shown to our karts.
After the qualifying round I asked to switch karts for the actual race as my first kart seemed slower on the straights than the others. The member of staff marshalling our race was more than happy to do this but another member of staff who had a beard and wore glasses was quick to question me about the first kart once the race had ended (which i totally get as they want to see what the issue was) but this member of staff was quick to assume that I was the problem and began berating me in front of my friends for my skill on the track saying it was unlikely the kart that was at fault. He even pulled my fastest lap times from the qualifying and the race to accuse me of being slower in the 2nd kart than i was in the first but upon further inspection by me and my mates we actually found that he looked at the wrong line on the sheets and not only was my fastest lap in the 2nd kart faster than in the first kart but i finished a full lap ahead of one of my other friends on the 2nd kart. I get that people blaming the karts for being slow is probably a common occurrence at a go-karting track but berating someone in front of 2 of his closest friends when you had incorrect facts and the kart was actually at fault is certainly not the best was to go about things.
The facilities at the venue were not the best either, 1 portable toilet for the entire venue and the track had multiple potholes in it and some where even in the racing line of the track which drastically affected the ability to follow the best route. One of my mates knocked a tyre into the middle of the track after taking a corner to tight and no effort to move the tire was made by the staff despite the ample safe opportunities to.
Facilities for spectators were not the best either and where very basic.
The cost was quite high in comparison to other venues as well as the grand prix event at West Wales karting is not only cheaper but you get nearly twice the laps (I am aware the track at Carew karting is longer but in terms of distance you still get more at West Wales).
In summary the attitude of the staff needs a lot of improvement (with the acceptation of the guy who swapped my kart and the guy who let us do the grand prix event). The prices are really high in comparison the the competitors considering you get less track time and much worse facilities and the track needs a lot of TLC
So if you want the best karting experience in Pembrokeshire head to West Wales Karting as the track, staff and facilities are not only better but cheaper. Alternatively you can head to Heatherton which is less than 5 mins from Carew Karting where you can do the karting 3 times for the same...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have caught scabies from this place. The overalls they give you to drive the go karts are in a stinking container and in no way in hell they are washed. Be aware please do not use. The overalls I used was stinking and they had not been washed. Please avoid
EDIT RESPONSE TO BELOW
I have contacted you to tell you this is why I have posted it. Do you think I was going to phone you and tell you and not let other people know about it? Of course I know I have had it from your place myself and my doctor have worked out the dates from when I showed symptoms. I would not falsely accuse a place of giving me scabies without being 100% sure.
I have elderly relatives that I cannot care for now due to catching scabies from your place.
There is a shortage of treatments and I could not get a prescription for the medication and have had to buy the medication myself. I am still suffering from the damage to my skin.
As for the cleanliness of your overalls. You have already admitted you keep your overalls in a container. The container was unsanitary.
You do not wash the overalls everyday if you did they would not be in the condition they were in when I visited.
Putting a spray on overalls for bacteria that kills covid does not mean that overalls are 100% clean.
My advice to you is to wash your overalls everyday at 60 degrees plus to avoid anyone else catching scabies as you must have all sorts of people wearing the overalls and you clearly have not put cleanliness of your overalls first. I seen this on the day I visited the overalls was in a disgusting condition.
With the greatest of respect you have no proof that I didnāt catch scabies from your place. Of course you are going to say I didnāt even if you had proof I did.
I hope you are taking the precautions of cleaning your overalls properly now to avoid anyone else...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBought vouchers as a Christmas present for my grandchildren. Wasnāt informed that they were only valid for 6 months. Tried to book a session this week and were told the vouchers had expired. I feel that 6 months - NO exceptions - is not very reasonable, particularly when you are only open part time during the winter/spring period ( essentially reducing the available time to use the vouchers by 3 months). This does not seem a fair way to take the money for the vouchers and then refuse to provide the service or offer any refund. I notice that you reviews are just short of 5, many people have obviously enjoyed the experience (excluding my grandchildren). There must have been others who have not had such a good experience or your overall review would be 5. - seems that any negative comments in reviews are not posted (Iāve checked through all those that are posted). Seems your company will take the money, take he 5* reviews and ignore everything else. I will be interested to see if you actually post this review and to hear any comments or views...
