We were recommended The Plough Inn, Sageston having a good Sunday lunch. We had Sunday lunch here today. Staff seemed to not know what each Other were doing.. ordered drinks and food at the bar, starters arrived just over 30 minutes later but not busy at all there. Starter was average at £4.95 each, no cutlery came with the starters so used our mains cutlery. Main meal Sunday Roast, 3 large slices of beef with 2 Yorkshire puddings, a stuffing ball which was clearly made of Paxo, 2 large roast potatoes which needed a kango hammer to cut them, and a sprig of flat leaf parsley on top of the inedible roast potatoes,. Also gravy with the meat. In a bowl followed, although apart from the Peas was all fresh seasonal vegetables, about a desert spoonful of each mashed Swede, sliced carrots, broccoli which was raw, Savoy cabbage and new potatoes (2 each) and 2 Mangetou a separate bowl of fresh sliced leaked in a cream sauce, gravy boat of gravy. I had to ask for horseradish relish and for more knives and forks as the server did not notice we did not have any cutlery left. Although the beef was very tender there wasn't much taste at all to it £8.95 each. Desert came in large wine glasses, triffle with just sponge and jelly no fruit, tinned custard mixed with cream and swirly cream from a squirty can on top, the tirramasu tasted like it was made from custard and cream with finger biscuits soaked in instant coffee no Tia Maria in it and again with squirty cream, quite tasteless and sickly to be honest. Other people left behind most of the veg, potatoes and the roast potatoes. If you like a plain tasteless meal this is the place for you. We shall not go there again others can make their...
Read moreThis cute little pub is the perfect place to spend an afternoon. In the winter they have a cozy log fire to drink in the cottage style pub. In the summer they have the perfect beer garden, decorated with flowers and with enough grass for the kids to play. There is a camping ground on site and sometimes there is a store. The customers are often locals and all know each other, but it is still friendly towards people visiting once. The Sunday dinners were delicious, but I'm not sure if the pub has reopened since being closed since COVID. The staff are super friendly, especially Jess who makes her own cocktails which they sell here. Prices are average, but worth it...
