Came in for a vegetarian breakfast. Good and poor points. The café is very pleasant and nice views of the landscaped garden. The shop is interesting even of only to see what can be made of glass. Service was slow, despite us being the only fresh customers in, the other customers having ordered or eaten. One member of staff behind the counter with apparently lots to do behind there. Another in the kitchen chatting with cooking staff - hint if your going to do that do not stand in front of the door where customers can clearly see what is going on. Food was hot and freshly cooked. However, veggie sausages were on the small side and rather tasteless. Small hash brown. But my main gripe is the Full English Breakfast is the same price as the Vegetarian Breakfast £12:50 each despite the full having 2 extra items (2 bacon, 1 black pudding, but one less egg). By comparison the Small English has 8.5 items and is £9.50. To top it all if you want extra items they are £1 each. So why are we being charged the same. Logic dictates £10.50 a fair price. Further Richmond make excellent veggie sausages which are the same price as their normal meat versions (£2.40 for 8 or £0.30 each), so do I feel somewhat cheated? Yes. I know there are other overheads so shop/cafe prices cannot be directly compared, but come on the raw material cost is the same, cooking takes same time, so why a difference? Frankly I feel taken...

The cakes are what we went for. Rocky road, scones with cream and jam, and the sponge cakes - yummy! You have a choice of sponge cakes from the flavours they have on each day. They are homemade and delicious. We had a choice of 7 different cakes, including a gluten free option. 2 of us were undecided between the same 2 cakes, the raspberry and lemon cake and the chocolate; we decided the best thing was to have 1 of each and share, so that's what we did! The teapot, hot water and milk were all refilled, with no extra charge, and at no time did we feel pressured to hurry up, even though there was a queue for tables. Thankfully we had booked or we would have been waiting for a while, too. On this occasion we didn't look around the shop areas, but they always have some amazing glass work on display, from their own studio and other designers and artists. There are tables outside for use in the nicer weather. This is definitely worth a visit and is accessible for...
