The two stars are for the well equipped gym and the tasty food. Unfortunately the rest of my visit would have left me crying if I hadn't had a little shopping trip beforehand.
The rooms are clean, it is looking tired but you can look past that. The heating wasn't working in the first bar and the restaurant was empty so it was dining a la Billy no mates with a coat on. Lovely food though.
On the first night the water stopped flowing from the shower, mid hair wash. Queue a call to reception trying to explain to two different members of staff about the situation. After 40 minutes of waiting with conditioner on my wet hair, I thought it was at least a great opportunity to get a real hydration to my hair (every cloud and all that). They moved me to another room, no water from the tap but the shower was okay. Although it appeared I'd spoken too soon.
After ten minutes the heating stopped, PJ's, two dressing gowns, hat and the duvet doubled up didn't keep me warm enough to sleep, I imagined this was what a camping experience was like. Staff said I'd put the temperature on too high without even asking if I'd changed it.
No water appeared to be in the bedrooms and we were advised to go to the spa. I found the water supply, it sneakily directed itself to the one shower in the changing rooms. It came out with such force it soaked my shoes which were outside the cubicle, the dressing gown hung up over the door and the towel that had fallen off the little peg. I like an invigorating shower but it was like being hit with a series of paint balls, in rapid succession, at close range, with a cannon.
The carpets in the other building are a bit of a trip hazard due to the waves. I've seen less waves on the ocean in the middle of winter.
No sleep, no water, no heating, they charged me full price and despite leaving feedback to staff nobody has called.
Would I recommend this hotel? If you like garlic prawns, visit the bar, order them...
Read moreVisited the Bicester Hotel Golf and Spa on a gift voucher for Spa N Par package. Enjoyable experience, however we swapped the golf for afternoon tea as don't play golf. The facilities are well maintained and cleanliness is of a high standard. Pool is 20 M length with 3 lane swimming for slow .medium and fast swimmer. At the time of visiting there was a limit of 12 persons in the pool( 4 per lane). Pool and spa facilities are open from 6am to 10.30pm which gives you plenty of options to plan your day. Sauna and Steam was out of operation due to Covid. But the Jacuzzi and Hydro pool were available with restriction on numbers. I believe there is a Gym and outside lake for swimming and other activities such as canoeing. The rooms are fantastic and looked impeccable. Very efficient AC that can be used to heat the room to 28 degrees. Rooms includes tea and coffee with kettle. Iron, ironing board and hairdryer are in the double wardrobe. Very quiet rooms. Polite and courteous staff in all departments, professionally trained. Highly...
Read moreNice course, well kept. Bunkers not great...hard sand. Greens fast and well kept. Signage around the club very poor.... small , sparse signs. The bar is pleasant. Helpful staff. Bar meal was quite dry (burger) ... think it had sat under heat as they were too busy with a wedding yo bother bring us the Fiid in time. Doesn't quite deliver on the promise.. they seem short staffed. I asked where the showers are (it was a hot day) response was 'are you staying with us'? Why that question? We spent £100 on a 2 ball and bar meal, I don't think a shower was a lot to ask, and I should have been shown where the showers are, without question surely? I eventually worked out where the locker rooms and showers are, despite the awful signage. No towel offered, Would Have been a nice touch. I may go again but there are...
