As lockdown restrictions ease, visiting pubs and restaurants is something that can feel risky - but thanks to the measures taken by the Red Cow on the opening night, not once did I and my party feel at risk.
Upon arrival, we were shown to our pre-booked table by a member of staff wearing a mask and a face shield. We were asked to use the hand sanitiser provided before entry, and there were several points in the pub where sanitiser was available.
The pub itself has been recently refurbished - it is light and airy while retaining the character features yoy would expect from a building of a certain age.
Comfortable seating is well spread out so you never feel your space is being encroached upon, and with no standing at the bar, moving around the pub is minimised.
At our table, we were served straight away, and the drinks came in a matter of moments. Still great prices and a huge range to suit all tastes and budgets.
We all had the signature Red Cow burgers, and if anything the quality of the food has improved since lockdown! The famous chips are utterly lovely, I highly recommend them. The burgers are delicious - local steak from a herd that grazes in the next village, fresh from the butchers.
The garden is a real selling point for this establishment, and it too has seen vast improvements to help with distancing - but also refreshed tables and beautiful lighting that makes you feel like you are on holiday.
Covered seating options as well as open tables make this a great place to spend a summer evening with dinner and drinks. Don't forget to ask about the newly available 'snug', especially if you are having a family celebration!
The staff are responsible, safe and just lovely - where other places have lost their charms due to the strict regulations, Paul, Terri and the staff are cheerful, friendly, and always go the extra mile to ensure everyone is more than satisfied.
If yoy are looking for somewhere to go for a meal, a special occasion, or just to socialise, you will be safe and happy when you choose...
Read moreWe have driven past this place a couple of times and never thought to go in there .Last night we didn't have a lot of time so we decided to give it a try and what a pleasant surprise! As soon as we walked in we could see it was a very nice and friendly warm and cosy pub. Most of the people sitting looked to be regulars and were very welcoming. We looked at the menu and it had a nice selection of food not too much , lots of different varieties of burgers probably one of the most varied menus for burgers I've ever seen. The barmaid poured me half a pint of a very nice ale which I enjoyed. We chose the beetroot and goat cheese salad which is lovely it was a very substantial portion and presented beautifully I then choose the rump steak ragu which I've never had before. When it arrived I was amazed it was a massive lump of steak, cooked to perfection on a lovely mound of pasta it was so tasty. The waitress who served us her name was Maya was one of the loveliest people I've ever had the pleasure being served by she was so helpful nothing was a problem and she really lit up the pub. Thank you Maya and compliments to the chef Alistair humidity Norse...

I always try the specials and am never disappointed. Always delicious everytime. Great ingredients cooked really well. A decent roast dinner aswell on a Sunday with plenty of choice.
