Fryer's Delight Takeaway — Local services in City of Edinburgh

Used this place for nearly 20 years, having previously reviewed really well, however since the son of the owner has taken over product has gone down the pan as the delivery service is taking precedence and they’ve lost the focus on the quality that made the business so good for so long. No point expanding the offer vastly for the core product to go from hero to zero. Drivers taking too many orders out, resulting in delays and cold, soggy chips, cloying batter on fish and scampi - really poor over past few orders. Even in store, the formerly happy staff seem stressed compared to years gone by. Another annoyance was being texted for a pizza promo, to try and order late, be kept on hold for 15 plus minutes then have to call back only to be told there’s a 90 minute plus wait….. the reason for which - “we’ve only got one pizza chef on tonight”…. I’ve left my number twice for Marco to call……...

Today my son came in for a hoagie wrap with no salad, but with salad sauce, my sons autistic I think they picked him up wrong asking for the sauce or lack of understanding, and when arrived home the salad was unfortunately there, as he wouldn’t make bk to shop b4 closing, I called to say, not expecting anything bk, a woman RACHEL answers the call as he’s now having meltdown by this point, Rachel decides to replace it free of charge and also deliver after she finished work, which she has, also she gave him a share bag of aero melts with it also free of charge , this is best customer care we have received , a can’t thank Rachel enuf 4 this act of kindness, I have tried to leave review on fb page and website, unfortunately u can’t, I hope this reaches u all in the fryers delight...

So we ordered a take away from here instead of the Superbowl. What a mistake that was.

I've had my fair share of chippys over the years and usually evem the worst can get some stuff right.

Lengthy wait but was tea time, so excusable. But clearly ramming the delivery driver with too many deliveries. When we got our food it was stone cold. Mmmm stone cold chips and battered mushrooms......yummy.

Got the kids a doner kebab to share. Again stone cold, but pale and rubbery as well on a greasy dry looking pita bread.

Then came the Italian Calzone. Again stone cold, terrible flavours and couldn't have been dripping anymore with grease.

Literally the most disgusting chippy I've eaten in 41 years. My advice to you would be starve before...
