Incredibly disappointed with this visit. We paid the honesty box £7 before entering and felt completely robbed by the time we left. It's receiving little attention; the grass appears to be tended to but there's no flowers at all apart from the bulbs. The water feature hasn't been cleaned in what looks like years as there is significant moss covering every tier. Inside the glasshouse there are several dying or dead plants, with one cactus that has tipped over and been left broken - it's very clearly not receiving any attention and is a real shame. The National Trust will blame COVID for their failure to look after the garden, but if you take a look around the other gardens in the city they haven't managed this level of disregard. There's beer bottles littered around some of the hedges and there are no bins anywhere on site - useless. If I thought I could, I would have attempted to reach into the box and get my seven quid back. Go elsewhere for a sunny garden walk - this place isn't worth your...

Luckily for us the excellent dog friendly cafe attached to the local rugby club beside the entrance to the gardens was very...
