We booked Mike to cater for a special celebratory meal for our parents' 40th anniversary for 9 adults and 2 children. I had shortlisted 2 private chefs but chose Mike after reading his reviews, and because he was so responsive over email. Great menu choices, and incredibly straightforwards to arrange from an organisation perspective.

The meal was absolutely exceptional. We had homemade canapés - delicious cheese tartlets, garlic prawns, and mini chorizo skewers - homemade sourdough, smoked chicken salad, butter-soft sirloin steak and melt-in-the-middle chocolate fondants. Mike prepared a children's menu so that the kidlets were involved in the whole evening. Half way through the meal, the boys decided to serenade us with a singsong, and Mike graciously paused the baking of the fondants without us having to ask so that we could all accommodate this raucous impromptu performance.

I would 100% recommend the additional extra of having a waitress for the evening. Marta was warm, friendly, and looked after everyone absolutely exceptionally. She was worth her weight in gold! She served delicious fresh mint tea at the end of the meal which was a lovely extra.

Finally, as if the whole experience wasn't fabulous enough, the entire kitchen was absolutely spotless, each item washed, and every kitchen surface sparkling. All that was left for us to do was crack on with the after dinner cards and games.

My husband’s 70th was on 14/9/21 and my son’s 33rd was on 16/9/21 this called for a really good celebratory meal for us and our partners, however, my son’s dog meant that it would be impossible to eat out. Following extensive research and excellent reviews about Mike I decided to go ahead and book him for a private meal for 4 in our tiny Forest Of Dean cottage. Mike’s professionalism meant I was aware well in advance of table setting menu and so on. Mike was extremely friendly and we all felt totally at ease in our own home whilst savouring numerous exceptionally delectable and refine dishes. The meal was truly world class and as good as we have ever had at any Michelin Star restaurant, delivered with flair and a perfect description of everything he had cooked for us. We ate his delicious food accompanied by our choice of wine and all without the normal subdued atmosphere that you get in a restaurant allowing us to laugh talk loudly and although engage with Mike who was cooking our meal in our kitchen! We would do it all again in a flash and would totally recommend anyone to experience a gastronomic home cooked meal by Mike a top ranked chef. Mike rose to the challenge of helping me to organise a surprise dinner party for my wife's 60th birthday. He agreed to provide a 6 course taster menu plus canapes for 7 people, vegetarian and fish for 5 of us, adapted for 2 vegans. He and our waitress, the delightful Diane, arrived at the agreed time and quickly set up. Everything was done with the minimum of fuss, the food was of a high standard, the timings were perfect, each course was clearly explained and they cleaned and packed up unobtrusively. Our dining area is open plan adjacent to our kitchen and this did not present a problem at all. Nor did the fact that the kitchen is relatively small - one four ring hob and one single oven.
