Great all year round, can get muddy during the winter months, Has Anglo Saxon Defensive Ditch dug along it in places used to defend against the Romans, also has a Hurricane Plane crash site from WW2, another place to find is what was called a Denehole a hole that's dug five meters down and then a cave or caves are dug horizontally in to the chalk some of them are very big and if you was to enter them you you could walk around from one cave to another (see YouTube, Denehole) This Denehole is located at the Southern part of Joydons Wood and has a high metal fencing around the drop down into the cave part, if you look down you can see the entrance into the cave. Plenty of paths and trails to provide over 10 miles, criss-crossing a structured and maintained woodland of chestnut, pine, oak and beech, with a small heathland of heather and fern. A bridleway skirts the border on one side. Riders are always polite, but learners are often brought here, so please ensure your dog is either secured or well behaved. There are very clear paths to follow if you choose to stick to these but the walking routes will take you off the main paths.
