Thorpe Cloud is a picturesque limestone hill located near Ashbourne in Derbyshire, England. It offers a delightful circular trail that provides stunning views and a beautiful walk. Let’s dive into the details:

Trail Details:

Length: Approximately 1.8 miles (a short loop).

Elevation Gain: 606 feet.

Difficulty: Suitable for all skill levels.

Trail Type: A loop trail primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching

Some visitors describe it as a very popular walk, even in January. The flat-topped peak is irresistible when seen from Ilam Country Park.

The summit offers great views, and the drop-off point is perfect for capturing photos.

Be cautious while descending, as the path can be slippery at times, especially with only one working path currently available

Tips:

Wear sensible walking shoes or boots, especially during steep sections.

Enjoy the spectacular views on a sunny day but be mindful of slippery conditions.

Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just looking for a peaceful escape, Thorpe Cloud promises a memorable outdoor experience. đŸžïžđŸ„Ÿ

It’s only accessible for those who can climb. Some slopes are so dangerous you could fall off. They should have rails and clear paths. Not paths with pebbles that can make you trip over. Especially, when you want to experience it but you can’t because it’s not accessible for those that are disabled. Public Toilets are an issue, in that area as well. You would have to hold it in, till you arrive in Ashbourne. Or use the unhygienic toilets at DoveDale itself. Parking is £2.00. However, if you like to walk or have a bike to ride; then you can park on the grass, along the way in to the entrance, for free. You’d just have a mile extra to walk that’s all. I would’ve rated it 2 stars but for it, to appear on the reviews, I rated it 4 stars. I would’ve gave a 4 star for real, if there was a lot more to do. It’s basically made for trekkers, kids and dog walkers. That’s all. Bike riders have to go...

A perfectly shaped mini mountain when seen from the Dovedale side. Height is around 942ft above sea level, but it only measures 259ft from base to top. A quick steep walk takes you to the top and the views are very good looking down at Dovedale. What disappointed me was, seeing buildings and cars in the distance that appeared higher than the summit on the other side. I felt like I'd been fooled by the hill and despite its mountain like appearence, a lot of the surrounding green plateau land is higher. This happens a lot in the Peak District and Flash village, the highest in the UK, is higher than a lot of the hills near it. I love the green rolling Dales of the Peaks though and highly...
