My first time on the Trent and Mersey but a very enjoyable one and even the weather did its best. I remember the very cleverly designed access times for the tunnels which gave me a good feeling that I "shouldn't" be meeting another boat coming from the opposite direction.

The views are amazing, Cheshire is gorgeous, but the undergrowth and overgrowth is so bad on this canal that in many places 2 boats would be unable to pass safely, if at all. There are many Canal and River Trust working boats scattered along here, but there never seems to be any work taking place. And yet they want a exhorbitant licence supposedly to pay for upkeep and maintenance of the canals... where is this upkeep and maintenance...

Interesting journey along this canal in our narrow boat.Beautiful part of my hometown of Stone. Staffordshire..The Trent and Mersey Canal is a huge part of Stone,s Heritage.The wildlife and the canal are well looked after well worth a trip along this unspoiled historical water..Unforgettable. Relaxing atmosphere....
