Walked up yesterday on yesterday. August day. Walked up from national trust car park. Weather was horrendous. The winds and rain and mist was quite scary at times. At time could not see 10 metres ahead of us. And could not see my other walkers which got me quite scared at times. I found the walk up very tough. However so proud I did it xxx

This is a more dramatic mountain than the slightly higher Pen Y Fan, which is just a short walk away. The hike up the face of Corn Du is quite steep and challenging in the final stretch. There is an easier route from the main Pen Y Fan car park, which will bring you round via the gentler sloping side of the mountain.

Corn Du provides one of the better approaches to the Pen y Fan summit. Craig Cwm Llwch is a fine airy ridge, with starting points to the west or north. Almost as good as the direct north ridge to Cribyn. Perhaps a linked circuit of the two would provide a fine day out

Trekking in the bad weather is a bit tricky. My last few minutes climb was very difficult but I am glad that I finally did it. If someone wants to take a easier route, they should take the route which is few metres before the bus stop. Weather is very unpredictable and one should always carry a rain coat and jacket as it gets too windy at top. Also the peak was mostly cloudy when we climbed. I will suggest one to trek through the route which is behind the bus stop and get down from the other route as it's easier and one can see normal joggers and walkers also taking that route quiet late in the evening. The view from the top...

Corn Du, the slightly lower neighbour to Pen Y Fan but nevertheless with outstanding views looking out over to the escarpment and down to the lake below, Llyn Cwm Llwch. This is likely the first peak you climb when approaching Pen Y Fan from the Storey Arms or Cwm Llwch. Path to the summit is mostly stone "paved" to resist erosion but is still quite hard on the feet and quite...

This is a great climb (route from the roadside car park) for people of all ages and experience. Very easy to follow, and is great fun for more experienced hikers to do some time trials. If it's your first time, I'd say 2hrs maximum up and down, however I have managed to get it down to 1hr 4mins. From the top, you can go across to pen y fan and the horseshoe. Great views to...
