We have just returned from the Stables Lodge and were disappointed with our experience, so much so we left a day early. ||We had expected privacy, however it was immediately apparent on arrival that this wouldn't be the case as the courtyard directly in front of our lodge is shared and other guests were using as we arrived. The garden to the side was also not private as only separated from next door by a very low fence (approx waist height) and the entrance road running directly in front. The garden furniture also wasn't clean so we had to eat inside as we didn't think we would need to bring cleaning supplies to enjoy meals on the patio.||We couldn't find a path down to the loch (the listing stated 200 yards away) and all paths were marked 'private' and led to other residences. There was no signage or instruction how we could get down to the loch. We therefore had to use the car to get down to it.||There was no usable wifi, so would be very wary if you are needing to stream or work as will need to use data. The wifi signal was extremely weak and dropped out constantly after a few seconds. We had to use our own mobile data during our stay. I contacted the |manager, who did try to reset the router (located in another building), however this made no difference as the accommodation is clearly too far away from the hub.||There was a lot of noise in the lounge coming through a shared internal door from the guests next door. The tv had a sky box but all movies were pin protected so had to use our own data to watch a movie, evening entertainment was limited because of this. The noise from next door was such we had to use our headphones to hear the tablet we were using.|The cold tap in the kitchen was very stiff and my partner struggled to turn it without discomfort from an old injury.||The hairdryer was broken ( components rattling around inside) and dirty/ clogged filter but also wouldn't even switch on, not that we would have used it if it did as it was filthy. I have a video of the state it was in. |There wasn't any basic toiletries available other than 2 rolls of toilet tissue.||We therefore tried to minimise our time at the property. This is fine if staying at a budget hotel, however for the price paid for a property marketed as luxury it was very disappointing. ||We certainly wont...

Read moreWell located and easy to access, comfortable lodge for 2 people.||Whilst well presented, clean and spacious the lodge is in dire need of updating.||Kitchen appliances feel 10+ years old, kettle and microwave in particular are not what you would expect in a property as nice as this. ||The bathroom comes with no toiletries other than hand soap whilst it has a light on a timer which cannot be deactivated, therefore, it will repeatedly go out whilst you are using the room. ||The tv’s and sky package are disappointing. There are no smart features or connectivity available therefore you cannot stream or access any services whilst staying at the Smiddy. The sky package is only the base version and you cannot access the store to purchase any new films or media despite this being advertised. ||The checkout procedure is thorough, with beds to be stripped, dishes washed, towels brought out of the bathroom, and all rubbish disposed pre-10am check out time. ||The stairs to the mezzanine are slippy and slightly precarious. Those with mobility issues would struggle. ||The implied privacy of the garden and outdoor spaces seems misleading. You park in a shared area, the entrances are located next to other lodges and gardens spaces are exposed. The entrance to the estate is also very slippy and not maintained well in winter months. ||Finally, the welcome package was lovely however the butter provided was out of date and the bread ran out of date before the end of our stay. ||Whilst the above seems like a long list of negatives these issues would be easily fixed with a small degree of change. For the price point in 2024 you would expect some of these features as a minimum i.e. we could have paid less for the same experience at a...
