What a lovely stay we had in the burrow this weekend. We enjoyed the animals on the land, the stunning scenery, getting settled into our little garden with a bbq and then cozied up in our burrow on the rainier day. ||Check in was straight forward and we did see a couple of people around who were always friendly but you are more or less left to your own devices which suits us. ||Wheelbarrows were handy for getting our belongings to our burrow as we have a habit of overpacking! ||Bed was comfy and all facilities we needed were there. The only thing we didn’t find so great was the only plug to use was in the loo and went off automatically unless the light was on so was a case of going in and out of the loo to keep this going. ||The loo itself wasn’t great for us.. you’re essentially doing your business in a bucket and we had thought this would be emptied daily but was not so became very smelly in there to the point we didn’t feel comfortable using it. I’m sure if we had asked for it to be emptied we would have been accommodated but it’s a little embarrassing. ||You are provided with sawdust and cleaning products but unfortunately it does become pretty sewage smelling in there. Then on top of that you need to go in and out to charge your phone so it’s just a little unpleasant but we understood it’s with the aim of being more sustainable. I think if it was emptied everyday it’d be less of an issue. ||Thankfully the shower and another sink are in the burrow itself so can brush your teeth and shower away from any bad smells. Within the burrow it was nice and clean and can get very cosy once the fire is roaring. Plenty cutlery, utensils, cups pans etc and sachets of coffee/ tea etc as well. ||Last day unfortunately we had no source of water. We weren’t informed of this until I sent a message to say our shower wasn’t working. Was told it was a burst pipe so not a fault of the owners and can’t be helped however wasn’t offered any kind of alternative (which granted there may not have been one) so we just headed off earlier than check out so we could get home and showered. Unfortunate end but not much can be done. ||Thanks...

Where do I start! It is beautiful well looked after and definitely something different. But there was a few major let downs. £500 for two nights to stay in the tree house £30 a night for the wood fire hot tub extra, But you have to heat yourself which takes two hours! For £30 a night I was expecting at least one night of it being ready for us. Was told to read the manual only to read a list of prices if anything is accidentally broken, £8 for one bowl, one mug, small plate each! £10 for a larger plate or bowl each, £8 for a glass and if the cooker or fridge gets accidentally broken you pay the repairs, if you mark the table you pay if you get bed sheets dirty you pay the laundry fee. Now I’d imagine paying £500 for two nights if we broke a mug it would be covered, also I’d expect them to have insurance on the cooker and fridge? I could understand if you broken stuff deliberately. Also was told not to use a lot of toilet roll!! No tv and no blind on the huge skyline window. No wifi either. I also was greeted with a note on my car saying park in the bay properly, when I was slightly over the line and tbh there was no cars there apart from two others. I feel it wasn’t a relaxing time as we where scared to break or get something dirty! Accidents happen! We won’t...

After having to email where to collect our keys after arriving about 7ish we finally found the keys ourself with no help and no reply to our email ! Also we arrived at our accommodation and paid extra for the hot tub which wasn’t even ready with logs 🪵 so couldn’t even go in it! Also the mattress on the bed was terrible it was so uncomfortable to lie on and was awake all night sore and got up the next day with my partner having a sore neck and the bottom of my back was in agony! It was like sleeping on a floor for the night! The so called toilet was something else. So after being offered an alternative accommodation and told the toilet and shower was outside the new accommodation we hesitated and decided to leave ! It is definitely not worth the amount for this accommodation for what they are asking for it!! Also the owner is very rude and not willing to help! Please have a hard think before you book cause if you complain like ourselves and ask to be refunded it won’t happen! The owner was so rude and unhelpful in the end and didn’t understand our concerns and refused a refund because he wasn’t happy we left the property with so much complaints only because he said he hasn’t ever had complaints like it! All I will say is AVOID!! Save your money and go...

I don't even know where to start. This place is just amazing! We stayed in the Ash Tree Howf - an actual tree house! The howf itself it's kitted out perfectly, with enough to keep you comfortable, but still retain an authentic tree house feel, with a real focus on sustainability and being environmentally friendly. The grounds are absolutely stunning, with lots of wildlife to interact with and enjoy. I particularly loved the super friendly donkeys and the pygmy goats, watching the horses was also an absolute delight. There are beautiful gardens to enjoy too, which are exceptionally well maintained. There is a small but very well stocked honesty shop on site, where we were lucky enough to get a few rhea eggs to enjoy. I would highly recommend trying them if you get the chance! Craighead is also perfectly situated for exploring Dunblane and Stirling, we took a day trip to the Wallace Monument and Stirling Castle, and then retired to our howf for prosecco and a BBQ. It was so tranquil and relaxing, I've never felt so blissfully relaxed! We had an absolutely perfect, romantic, snuggly weekend here and we will be back again on the future for more tree house adventures!

My wife and I stayed in the Wee Tree Howf on the first two nights of our honeymoon. It was the perfect retreat from a busy wedding weekend. Craighead is a lovely retreat. It is your childhood tree house upgraded into an idyllic escape from the world. We arrived right around sunset and the golden light made checking in even more magical. Aside from occasionally seeing your neighbors if there are other guests, your only company is the animals here who only add to the charm. The tree howf was cozy, but not too cramped. The view of the small lake from the windows and the front porch was magical, only beat by the view from the back porch of rolling hills and mountains spotted with sheep and cows. The only downside was the mattress on the bed. It has seen better days. It is glamping, so expect that. The trees howf is warmed by a woodstove that is more than adequate, and cooled by open windows. There is a compost toilet slightly removed on a different branch, but also a shower and bath tub for use. I was pleasantly surprised that there were outlets for charging phones and other electronics.

This was an experience of a lifetime. Our stay at The Burrow at Craighead Howf was perfect in every way. I wish I could give it 6 stars. Ian and Heather put their hearts into their amenities and it really shows. Highly recommend you stay with them as they will take great care of you. Our stay was cozy and definitely more of a camping type experience (camp stove, wood burning fire, compost toilet) and that’s exactly what we signed up for. We had one day where we could take full advantage of the outside camp BBQ and patio area but we got some rain the second day which got us cozied up inside next to the fire (which was equally amazing in this beautiful burrow!). The location is in the countryside but very easily accessible by car from Stirling (we took a train from Edinburgh to Stirling). It is very close to Stirling Castle, Doune Castle and many local hiking trails. Thanks for letting us stay with you and hope to be back one day!
