For summit camping, the summit is like a plateau but quite rocky. Plenty of flat pitches, just need to find a patch of grass without rock, which is tricky but there are some. Nothing you can use for wind cover up here. Nearest water source would be back down to the tarn.

Easily one of the most beautiful places in the UK. On a clear day you can see all the way down to skiddaw. Dramatic landscapes just unfold before you. Well worth the detour on the way down from Scafell Pike and I would highly recommend it especially on a clear day.

Best view ever! And my final wainwright as well! An incredible cloud inversion on a foggy day, which we never expected. All of the tallest peaks poked out of the clouds like islands in the sea! About a 3.5-4 miles hike to the top, great views on an ordinary day, and right next to Scafell pike. Worth it, but a long trudge...
