Went to the cakery at ashwell garden centre for some cake and coffee with my partner .
Disappointed with the service that was received this is because when we arrived we ordered coffee and two millionaire shortbreads (there were 4 available on the shelf) I then paid and we sat at a table waiting for the items .
Approximately 10-15 minutes had passed (baring in mind it wasn’t busy at all) still no coffee or cake had been received. Then a party for an event came in that appeared late as there were tables reserved for 12pm although when they arrived it was 12:50pm . This meant that they had took all the shortbread from the shelf and started to prepare it for the late event party . We were informed that there wasn’t any more shortbread left .
I stated that I believed that there was shortbread on the shelf , to which the response was “it has been used for the afternoon tea for the event party” . I wasn’t best pleased and said that we had placed our order before they arrived and we paid for our order .
We received a full refund but this service has put me and my partner from coming again as it’s disgusting how we paid for our order for it to be given to someone else that has attended late .
You should have better communication between your staff to make sure you have the goods for other customers as well as better preparation. If you knew there was an event having afternoon tea then you should have took them bits of cake off sale to anybody else .
So I hope you learn from this as you have lost some customers that regularly visit the cakery at the...
Read moreVery disappointing today. Had an amazing roast lunch a few weeks ago but not today. The veg tasted re-heated (one of my potatoes was cold in the middle) and nothing was hot. Thought I'd misread the menu board so was didn't complain when it arrived without Yorkshire pudding. On paying I noticed the board and mentioned we didn't have any on our lunch and was asked if we'd like them now??? Pointed out we'd finished our lunch and were leaving. There didn't appear to be anyone supervising staff today and it showed. I'd booked as when I called to check what the roast was I was advised to because 'it gets busy on a Sunday afternoon'. However, there were plenty of empty tables and on arrival and mentioning I'd booked we were told to 'sit wherever you want'. Since no one could be bothered to reserve a table for us where would we have sat if it had been busy? Surely this defeats the object of booking a table? It was a very short visit as there was nothing welcoming about it today. Sadly a complete contrast to previous visits when staff are supervised but everyone is entitled to a...
Read moreA huge thanks to Rutland Garden Village for hosting its final event of the Autumn/Winter 2022 season of artisan craft fairs today. Although bitterly cold for me and my fellow artisan stallholders, it was a lovely festive occasion and the RGV team was as welcoming and obliging as ever. There was the usual excellent mix of small local businesses showcasing their quality handmade items, which the customers seemed to appreciate. These monthly craft fairs from September to December are well worth a visit for anyone who appreciates unique handmade products, especially if you're looking for the kind of Christmas gifts you won't find on the high street. At the same time the garden centre offers plenty of other shopping opportunities as well as excellent dining. Plus, Christmas trees are in stock now and all your other gardening needs will be...
