My eye was drawn to the macaroon bars, scottish tablet and Edinburgh rock. Sweets that I enjoyed more than 40 years ago when I lived in the West of Scotland. I decided to order some to try, to see if they matched my memories of my sweet tooth past. First roadblock!!! The initial two items that I tried to order were out of stock. Stymied!!! I contacted Saltire Candy to ask when these would be back in stock (to complain, really!!!), and almost immediately, I received a charming reply of apology and an expression of promise that they would be available once again the following week.

A week or so later, I went through the menu of tasty items on offer and deciding to go for the free delivery minimum level, I chose 10 different delights, including the vanilla macaroon, scottish tablet and salted caramel fudge (my wife's specific choice). Four days later, the postie arrived, box in hand. It was opened by both of us, like kids in the proverbial sweetie shop. Bearing in mind that we are now of pensionable age, we aren't normally so desperate and excited to get to sugar treats, but this was special.

We are taking our time getting through the plethora of choices and now, this is the ideal opportunity to thank you for your sweeties. We have been very pleased with everything that we have tried so far and we will come back to you again for a further assessment of your goodies. Thank you for everything.

I ordered a variety of old fashioned sweets as a surprise for my mum. A little trip down memory lane for her as I recall her telling me my granpa would buy cinnamon balls for her every Friday. Found this little business on FB and did hesitate before placing an order (thought it may be a scam), but placed an order for a selection of my childhood favourites anyway. I was delighted when my order arrived beautifully packaged to protect my chosen sweets and I liked the individual bags so I could have a different treat depending on my mood.
