In all honesty, even as an experienced climber, this was one hell of a challenge. If you have a fear of heights then it’s definitely not one for you, because even on the upper ridge or ‘steadier’ lower ridge there are large sheer drops either side, so please approach with caution and awareness. The Chimney at the far end of the ridge is again a challenge, you have to climb down approximately 9 metres of rock without clear steps, which gave me a few cuts and scrapes! Read moreA fantastic first trip along Striding Edge with my wife and 4 kids (9-13 years old) during Easter holidays. Blessed with near perfect conditions (blazing sunshine and a slight breeze). Plenty of opportunities to get off the ridge line if you or someone in your party isn't a fan of heights or exposure! Beware busy days (good weather) and make sure you give yourself time and space to negotiate the tricky sections (and do the same for other walkers as well!)
