We recently spent a weekend at Witton Castle Country Park, and the castle itself was the highlight. This richly historic, Grade II* listed gem dates back to the early 15th century, rebuilt and restored over centuries – and today it forms the heart of a vibrant holiday park set in 330+ acres of woodland, lakes, and activity areas .

The castle’s crenellated towers and fortified walls create the perfect backdrop to a uniquely charming park. It’s clear the caretakers work hard to preserve the structure, with the exterior and grounds looking well-maintained and inviting . You can wander through castle grounds and enjoy panoramic views amidst the architecture.

During our stay in a modern, well-equipped caravan, we appreciated the peaceful surroundings and the friendly staff who were especially great with kids . On-site facilities include a café, bar, fish-and-chip shop, playgrounds, soft play, lakes with paddleboards and fishing — so there’s something for all ages .

We have stayed at Witton many times over the years. Every caravan we have hired has been of excellent quality with all the amenities you need for your stay. We have always traveled with our dog and unlike some sites you are still offered great accommodation. We have used all the facilities the castle has to offer over the years - the restaurant with its fabulous open fire, the bars (which have all been refurbished over the past couple of years - the intricate paintings and decor are amazing), the games rooms and cinema which our daughter loved, outside play area, crazy golf and the wide open spaces to picnic and play outdoors. Around the site and local area there are some wonderful walks, location, wildlife and nature are stunning in all seasons. We have always found the staff around the park friendly and helpful and we like the added touch of security on the gate, gives you that extra peace of mind. We have visited a couple of times and special events have been held on the large grassed area in front of the castle, car shows, BBQs, music events etc. Always had great holidays here, we love the family feel to the place, lots to do without the glare of neon and noise. Came here on 16/3/18 with my kids and hubby and dog and the moment we booked up we were surrounded by verry helpfull and joyfull staff we really enjoyed our break here the children really enjoyed wittons new child entertainer (AMY) she really makes sure the children are smiling and having fun she even makes sure she has little chats with the parents/carers my children couldn't wait to go to the castle to see amy that's all they spoke about and we arrived home today and all the talk about was how fun amy way and they carnt wait to go back I really do like the views/walks and all the staff we all had an amazing time I recommend u try this place yourself before u believe the reviews as I read the reviews and was in two minds to go but a soon as I rang to book I was shocked at the verry polite and helpful staff then arrived and stayed over the weekend and was amazed at how good it was there caravans was really clean and fresh myself and hubby and my 3 children really really enjoyed it or and my dog enjoyed it to 😀......thank you witton staff for an amazing time and thank you amy for adding that little bit more joy to my kids stay ..from the mather family .....see you again...
