Not much to do in the village (the castle is a hotel and camp site but you can go for a long walk and visit) but surrounded by beautiful scenery and lovely walks. Perfect to escape for a night. The actual b&b, can't fault it. They don't serve food for dinner, but they provide a list of places to go, and there's a banging chippy a mile away. Slept like a baby on a big fluffy bed, power shower, everything provided. Pub downstairs if you fancy some company or a pint otherwise left to your own devices. Breakfast was delicious, and I was full all day from it. At your own table(s) (we had the whole pub to ourselves) were served chilled juices, cereals, teas and coffees, condiments and a full English (select what you want and how much) is served to you. Select what breakfast you want via form the night before. Guy was dead lovely and chatty, too! Would definitely stay again and have recommended to my parents and friends to...
Read moreWe met up for a family Sunday lunch 22/02/2019 and were hugely disappointed. Diabolical food and Diabolical Service. Waited half an hour after ordering and politely asked for our meal. A waitress came back plonked one serving platter of veg not adequate for two people never mind 3 of us and threw the serving spoons down. Two had beef - which was tough and tasteless. One Pork loin which was the only good thing about the meal. The mash was two tiny spoonfuls, the yorkshires inedible and soggy roast potatoes. Finally served with one and a half gravy boats with gloopy awful tasting gravy. Very disappointing.. We did complain to a young waitress and the barmaid. The barmaid was very apologetic but still took our money. Would not recommend and...
Read moreMy daughter and I were visiting friends nearby and we booked to stay at The Victoria Inn B & B. George and Carolynne were very friendly and welcoming showing us to our parking space and two rooms. I had Room 4, overlooking the Valley, and on mentioning my love of walking, Carolynne very kindly offered to show me where she walks her dog which turned out to be a bit of a trek but very enjoyable. Everything was in place to ensure a Covid safe stay in view of the circulating Virus. The room was nicely decorated, comfortable bed, lovely shower and the Thermostat was a doddle for me to use. My daughter persuaded me to pop downstairs on the first evening to try a small local ale. Would definitely stay again when visiting...
