It is in the Peak District National Park and is a popular site for learning the rudiments of rock climbing. As the name suggests the area is exposed to the prevailing westerly winds. Read moreVery good crag for beginners. As a result, the crag is super busy and parking can be hard. The crag is very friendly to beginners and families. Most small kids will be able to find a route they can do, and most beginners can try climbs ranging from a comfortable scramble to a more challenging (but safe) route. This is a great area to learn to trad climb, but will only stay this way if visitors look after the rock :)
The crag is only a 1 minute walk from the nearest parking, potentially 10 minute walk from the further parking spaces up the road. I was quite careful of parking as bikes and cars speed...
