We recently stayed at the Fox Cabin and overall had a lovely time in a truly beautiful location. The setting is peaceful and scenic — perfect for a relaxing break away from it all.
The cabin itself is very well equipped and thoughtfully decorated. You can tell real care has gone into creating a cosy space. The bed was comfy, and the pillows were especially soft — we had greats night sleeps!
That said, there were a few things that could use some attention. The shower was a bit tricky to use — it was either scalding hot or freezing cold, with no comfortable middle ground. The toilet system also wasn’t ideal, and unfortunately it sometimes left the cabin with a urine smell.
The hot tub was lovely, but the water pressure from the hosepipe was slow so it took a while to fill up, and it was quite frustrating that where the lid had partially split in places, it meant that every time we closed or removed the lid, polystyrene beads would fall into the water with no way of removing them.
While we totally understand that being in a remote, rural location means dealing with insects, there were an excessive number of flies getting inside. We also noticed a mass amount of dead flies that had gathered by the mattress under the window — a quick clean there would make a big difference.
Our dog absolutely loved exploring the grounds, and we really valued the space between cabins, however we initially thought that the paddocks were fully segregated by fencing when really they were separate by electric wire, which meant we couldn’t always fully relax when she went out the cabin.
All in all, the Fox Cabin has great potential and offers a lovely unique stay in a gorgeous area. We found following the map to the secret beach not very clear and well signed, but if you ask for directions, the people around the farm were friendly and happy to help. Such lovely spots dotted around for meals and places to explore. A lovely setting for a couple of days being able to switch off and enjoy...

The log cabin with work would be amazing however there was alot I was not happy with. Location is amazing however the rest i did not feel was at a good standard.
The cabin was not clean, I understand it's in a field however I am talking about the shower not being cleaned at all. The fridge was dirty both inside and out, there was stuff all over the top of the fridge that made it look horrible. The utensils holder was caped in dirt, i attampted to clean it however gave up and placed it in a draw. All windows inside and out were dirty, not just dirt from one day you can see it is a build up. The bedding had dog hair all in it and I am unsure if the large pillows were clean as they were creased as if they had been lay on.
The hot tub was full of cracks and bodgy repairs that made it look dirty and when we attempted to heat it the Woodburner it was making a loud noise which made it impossible to relax. We left early as I felt uncomfortable to eat there as it felt dirty, like i said I understand that I accept to be some dirt however I felt very uncomfortable as it felt like it needs a deep clean.
If you are looking for a relaxing night away i would avoid as i felt more...
Read moreBeautiful views, lovely area. Recommend a drive to Symonds Yat. Lovely little cabin we had a lovely peaceful stay.
A few little things that if implemented would have gave it 5 stars- only 2 towels which were bath towels rather than bath sheets. Could barely get towel round us. Hottub took a long time to heat up which cant be helped but could do with better lighting beside it.
Shower was the worst part, either dangerously scolding hot or ice cold - couldnt have a comfortable wash took me about 20 mins to wash my hair.
Outdoor seating was uncomfortable so a few outdoor cushions would have made all the difference!
Lastly inside looked fairly clean but inside drawers etc I needed to clean myself before using.
Couldnt fault the location and the cabins were well equipped minus the small towels. Overall a wonderful stay and would recommend to anyone .
