A delightful moderate climb from White Moss car park (Wainwright's Route 1, a few more strenuous bits in places) with great all-round scenic views rewarding the effort. After the pretty flat path from the riverside to the Loughrigg Terrace footpath, the climb starts there in earnest at the west end, where the well-constructed stepped path starts climbing back southeastwards (more or less overlooking Grasmere lake, lovely views). Much of the climb from there is on the very good stepped path, but there are two or three short sections that are definitely a scramble - hands are needed and extra care is necessary placing feet! I tried to do the walk fairly quickly (I didn't want a parking ticket) so completed it with just around 5 minutes spent at the summit before returning. Time taken - just over two hours there and back. But I'd allow a minimum of two and a half or three hours if I did the walk again. No point in rushing up and down without good reason; the views are...

Spectacular. Stunning. What a great walk. Started in Ambleside this morning ended up at the summit then decided to continue on over the other side and down to Grasmere. The sky was clear and the views of the fells, Windermere and Grasmere were fantastic. There are some steeper bits, however nothing to crazy if it’s not wett and you take your time. Good idea non the less to bring a rucksack. Wiry a jacket, some snack and water. Highly recommend this walk. After having lunch in Ambleside the bus ride back to Ambleside was welcome. That being set a cab would have been less expensive for four of us without a day pass for the buss. So get a buss pass!! Saves you money. Took a refreshing swim in Grasemere before a nice pub lunch. A little walk about town was warranted before our return trip...

Loved the hike up from white moss car park, was a 1.4mile walk to the top , a short walk towards a little bridge to walk over the shallow river rothay then a gentle ascent through the woods till you come to a gate , there will be a little ruin of a house on the left , you turn right and follow the path round , you get awesome views of grasmere water , you walk a couple hundred yards then you start a steeper ascent to the top , its again a gentle ascent , steep but not too bad , you get distracted with the views, when you get to the top you get fantastic views all round , then on way down we came down a steeper descent towards rydal caves which never fails to impress , lovely place and everyone should have a good look...

We had an amazing walk to the Loughrigg Fell and the trail around the area. The scenery up at the top was fantastic. Enjoyed the packed Lunch up at the top. The trail is quite easy. Lots of cute farm animals along the way.
