Short walk from nearby parking spot (though there isn't many!) We had the tarn almost to ourselves on a warmish September day, water temp was around 16-17°c, lovely for a leisurely swim to the other side and back. Plenty of little 'beach' entry points around the edge, with fallen trees and boulders to sit on and hang your wet kit afterwards. There are sheep roaming all around close by which we both enjoyed. The water quality is really good, quite brackish, but clean. Yes, defo worth a visit if you are a fan of...

Delightful tarn with great views of the Langdale Pikes. Particularly beautiful in late spring/early summer, when the water lillies are flowering. Many wonderful walks pass the tarn, including up to the top of Loughrigg fell or down to the lakes at Rydal and Grasmere. Also, delicious food and toilets available at Chesters, nearby at...

A lovely walk, with a must see visit to Rydal Cave first, then climb up from the back of the cave. The views are stunning, the terrain is quite manageable although does get the heart racing. As pretty as Catbells and possibly a similar difficulty.
